[A few days after the unusual cold wave, the summer starts to make it’s comeback. Lately it’s been a lot hotter so staying by the beach seems like a good idea to make it through the day– and part of the night too, because even then the temperatures don’t leave a reprieve.

This night, though, it’ll be a little different. As soon as it gets dark, it’ll be noticeable that the sea doesn’t look the same as always.

Any movement on the water, be it the waves or fishes or people stepping in, will make the water shine. Even those who might be wary of it at first might soon notice that it appears to be quite harmless. Maybe it’s some kind of magic that keeps this warm night filled with light, maybe it’s some kind of strange lifeform in the water itself. Either way, it makes for a beautiful sight.

Once the night has settled, some small clouds begin to gather. It’s just a drizzle, not enough to push people back inside, but it’s enough to make the sea light up even further.]

((shiny beach post, just because it looked pretty. spanish version to be added soon.

EDIT: now this points counts for february-march AC!))

[Not being much of an outdoors person, it was mostly the hot weather that has him out this far by the sea and for once not dressed like he's about to walk into a work meeting. Mostly as he was not expecting to run into others or to see the sea in full sparkle mode now. Huh.]

I'm no expert on the oceans here, but there's a term for this sort of thing in nature. Not entirely abnormal. [Possibly.]

[A full sparkle mode to cheer up you, aren't you happy about it? She looks up when she hears you.]

There is? I thought it had to do with magic, somehow...

[It's impossible.]

Oh, don't get me wrong. That could easily still be the case now - and in a place like this, I wouldn't doubt it for a moment.

[He says so veeery matter-of-factly and with no shortage of pettiness over the circumstances here as usual. But still.]

However, if this time is different... you can say that certain marine lifeforms can emit light to an effect like this. I've never seen it myself in person before.

You don't like magic, do you?

[She's pretty sure, but she asks just in case. Your tone makes it pretty obvious, yeah.]

It could be that. I mean, the sea has many different types of creatures. [And monsters, but she doesn't say that out loud.]

[He's already thinking the same, it's fine.]

No doubt more creatures than we ever hope to know. [As for her first question, he seems like he won't address it at all for a few moments, then ventures, almost absently.]

What do you think of it? Magic.

[Decides not to keep prying about it, at least for now. It's clear to her that you don't want to answer her question.]

It can be very dangerous. And complicated. But it's also useful if you can control it.

[What an odd feeling - that your words are pretty much right in the bull's eye of how he mostly operates too when it comes to magic and similar forces. Control, huh?]

I'm inclined to agree. [...] Sounds like you've been witness to the usefulness before?

[He doesn't ask outright if she can control it too, but does wonder that also ngl.]

[It's been her lack of control what has led her to try to learn-- to little success yet. But she's trying.]

Have you met Yennefer? She's an amazing sorceress. She managed to get to this world on her own.

[He won't admit that he was there near the area the day Yen arrived, with some awareness of what happened, not that he approached anyone directly.]

Can't say I've had the chance. You're saying she used her own magic to arrive here? I take it that's no easy feat.
