by the port
[A few days after the unusual cold wave, the summer starts to make it’s comeback. Lately it’s been a lot hotter so staying by the beach seems like a good idea to make it through the day– and part of the night too, because even then the temperatures don’t leave a reprieve.

This night, though, it’ll be a little different. As soon as it gets dark, it’ll be noticeable that the sea doesn’t look the same as always.

Any movement on the water, be it the waves or fishes or people stepping in, will make the water shine. Even those who might be wary of it at first might soon notice that it appears to be quite harmless. Maybe it’s some kind of magic that keeps this warm night filled with light, maybe it’s some kind of strange lifeform in the water itself. Either way, it makes for a beautiful sight.

Once the night has settled, some small clouds begin to gather. It’s just a drizzle, not enough to push people back inside, but it’s enough to make the sea light up even further.]

((shiny beach post, just because it looked pretty. spanish version to be added soon.

EDIT: now this points counts for february-march AC!))

[Having been outside at night, he saw the colored sea from far away, and flew this way to check that nothing was wrong with the water itself. Now close to it, it doesn't take too long to verify that whatever's causing this change seems harmless, at least for now.

And for once, the lights are subtle enough he can appreciate the pretty scenario without hurting his eyesight. It's tough to make him appreciate bodies of water, so good job, sparkly sea.]

[She has been waiting and watching others to see if the water is safe, as well. Not doing so would most likely get her a big lecture from both Geralt and Yennefer, so better to be safe.]

I think it's harmless. [She says it aloud when she sees you nearby, flying by.]

It seems that way. [Still suspicious, but water can be weird, especially that at the sea.] At least it's not the type of water one would drink, so there's one less thing to be concerned about.

I wonder if drinking it would make people shine, too.

[The idea makes her smile. Hopefully it's not something deadly though.]

I'm not going to try it, don't worry.

[Dice que hay menos cosas que preocuparse, y justo le dices algo preocupante...]

Realmente espero que no. Incluso si no brillase, no sería saludable.

[Oops.]

No, creo que no sería muy saludable. [...]

[Not being much of an outdoors person, it was mostly the hot weather that has him out this far by the sea and for once not dressed like he's about to walk into a work meeting. Mostly as he was not expecting to run into others or to see the sea in full sparkle mode now. Huh.]

I'm no expert on the oceans here, but there's a term for this sort of thing in nature. Not entirely abnormal. [Possibly.]

[A full sparkle mode to cheer up you, aren't you happy about it? She looks up when she hears you.]

There is? I thought it had to do with magic, somehow...

[It's impossible.]

Oh, don't get me wrong. That could easily still be the case now - and in a place like this, I wouldn't doubt it for a moment.

[He says so veeery matter-of-factly and with no shortage of pettiness over the circumstances here as usual. But still.]

However, if this time is different... you can say that certain marine lifeforms can emit light to an effect like this. I've never seen it myself in person before.

You don't like magic, do you?

[She's pretty sure, but she asks just in case. Your tone makes it pretty obvious, yeah.]

It could be that. I mean, the sea has many different types of creatures. [And monsters, but she doesn't say that out loud.]

[He's already thinking the same, it's fine.]

No doubt more creatures than we ever hope to know. [As for her first question, he seems like he won't address it at all for a few moments, then ventures, almost absently.]

What do you think of it? Magic.

[Decides not to keep prying about it, at least for now. It's clear to her that you don't want to answer her question.]

It can be very dangerous. And complicated. But it's also useful if you can control it.

[Difficult to keep this one away from approaching and showing her interest in magical shenanigans either, so ofc Frieren is close by too, using her mana to interact with and inspect the water without too much worry otherwise.

Though in this sort of late night atmosphere, she rather gives off very quiet ethereal vibes without meaning to, squatting close to the waves, close enough to see it all better. She might not notice him right away in that process but some of the water in her hands it almost seems to glow brighter - like she's copying the effect to make it glow more in the process. Pretty.]

No. At first I put a shield over my hands, but it doesn't look like it's needed. [So... just pretty lights? Strange.]

You suspect it could mean something more, that it happened tonight. [HMMM.] Or... that something made it turn this way?

[Not bad questions, really.]

[Indeed.]

There's magic in many places here. [Something he knows from other people's experiences, as he can't sense it himself.] That it'd change something to look more colorful doesn't feel out of character, but still, I do wonder if there's a reason.
