Who: Steve and Tony
What: I don't really know. Talking?
Where: Tony's apartment
When:
Warnings: Doubtful of anything much
The streets of New York city in the 21st Century scared Steve. It was strange for Captain America to be scared bu he couldn't help it. The long shadows cast by buildings hit by yellowed street lights hid things from his immediate sight - like the homeless begging for change and young men making drug deals - and there seemed to always be sirens in the distance. Normally he'd be in uniform trying to save those who couldn't save themselves but honestly Steve wasn't to the confident point in his life yet. Really he was just a young man, brought into the army and made into something amazing for the sole purpose of fighting.
They'd won the war which wasn't all that surprising but he'd looked up the names of some of his closest friends and saw they had died in the war. Of course some were still alive but many of his friends and those he considered to be brothers were dead. Gone. Yet he was left there in this new, scary world with few people who didn't seem to like him very much and to be honest, Captain America was confused and a bit lonely.
How he had ended up at Tony Stark's apartment door he didn't really know. Maybe there was something of the old Steve still left inside of him that had guided his footsteps to what had once been a comforting place or maybe it was just pure coincidence. However he was there now, standing in front of the door, dressed in a baggy sweater, a pair of jeans and flip flops. Raising his hand he almost knocked on the door before he pulled back...and then reached forward again before once more hesitating and taking a nervous step back. Why was he there? Why look for solace in a man he didn't really know?
Because it felt right. That's the only answer he could come up with. Somewhere deep down in his gut it seemed right to want to be with Tony. To crave the man's comforting embrace. So swallowing down the nervous lump in his throat he finally reached forward and knocked firmly, his hand immediately retracting back as if he were scared something was going to suddenly pop out and hurt him.
