Louis paced in the main room of the penthouse, cursing under his breath in French. This was ridiculous. Why was he stuck helping some fledgling childe who knew nothing about how to take care of herself? This never would have happened had Lestat been around. As much as he sometimes hated his sire, he couldn't fault his ability to keep from being dragged into these situations.

He wanted to blame the girl's sire, but he didn't even know this Edward. Still, for someone Bella apparently loved so much, he wasn't doing much to help her. He continued pacing as he waited, knowing Claudia would chide him for letting himself get so worked up. He never had these problems with her. It was easy to write off the problems she'd had as a product of being stuck in such a young body, and he could ignore any lingering issues.

He heard her footsteps before she reached the door, and turned as it opened. "Bella, I presume?"
