Story: "Rollercoasters" (Original, Any Age)
Title: Rollercoasters
Rating: Any Age (Because I don't believe in rating original works, I stole inell's rating system.
Summary: Josh's first time riding a rollercoaster.
Warning: N/A
Notes: Not the best in the world, only 371 words, but I needed to write something to get my muse to come out. I know I reused a word or pharse, and that Alex asks a lot of questions, but I needed something to write.
The smell of over cooked, greasy food clogged the air, and Josh found it hard to breath. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath in and out, hoping it would relax his jumpy nerves.
“Don’t tell me you’re scared, man?” Alex, his new friend, asked.
“I’ve never ridden a rollercoaster,” Josh said, gripping the handrail so tight his knuckles turned white.
“Hey, if you don’t want to do this, you don’t have to.” Alex said, looking at the other boy with concern.
“No, I’m fine,” Josh said, waving him off and moving up in line.
“How many?” The man working the rollercoaster asked.
“Two,” Alex said, and when the man lifted up the chain he ran through to the front of the rollercoaster.
Josh followed behind him, taking a seat, and gripping the hand bar in front of him. The purple leather was sticky with sweat from past riders, and his stomach flipped again when the worker came buy and locked the bar in place.
“Ready?” Alex asked, taking a deep breath and gripped the hand bars as well. Excitement danced in his eyes, and Josh wondered if Alex was an adrenaline junkie.
“No,” Josh whispered and the rollercoaster took off. The wind whipped through his hair, making his eyes water for a moment before they got used to it. They went down a deep hill, swerved around a turn so fast it couldn’t be healthy, and they began the slow journey up the giant dive.
“You like it yet?” Alex screamed, waving his around himself like a fool.
“No,” Josh whispered again, his hands gripping the bar so tight there were finger indentions in the leather.
They made the decent down the hill, going at least eighty miles per hour, and only gaining speed. Josh looked at the ground, and for once the ground whipping past him didn’t make him feel sick or dizzy. The ride cam to an end and Josh exited it with a lazy grin on his face.
“So, how was it?” His girlfriend asked, passing him a water bottle to sip from.
“Can we go again?” He asked Alex, and in response Alex let out a big whoop and led Josh to the Tornado Twister.
