“Julia Child? Come on now, I need baby steps,” He laughed, the thought of himself standing over a stove just didn’t compute with his mind, but he could try it if he really thought he needed to — which he didn’t, so the idea was immediately chalked it up as a joke and nothing more.
At least he damn well hoped.
He gave her the moment to think about it and have things click as he gathered the ingredients for grilled cheese from both the cupboards and the fridge with surprising accuracy, perhaps from watching her gather the same kinds of materials at some point before. Buttering the bread and whatnot he got to work on putting some grilled cheese together, at least the bread and cheese bits before the grill, considering it wasn’t cooked yet. Once they were ready to be charred he set them into a pan on the stovetop and listening to it sizzle he glanced over his shoulder at her, giving a bit of a shrug.
“Anywhere in particular you might want to leap into? I could go for most anything. Really I just think it would be nice to have you rid of the aching and whatnot for a while.” It was a moment of sweetness, times like those were saved only for her to be a part of. “Nothing Disney, though.” He couldn’t stress that point enough.
