Pearl's crying shook Death out of her own. She could cry when it was time to. Wiping at her eyes, she moved to hug Pearl. "Shh. It's okay, it's okay." she murmured. "I shouldn't have brought you here.."
Death glared at the Ood and then indicated for Pearl to refocus. "If we leave, the song stops, right?"
"The song never truly stops." the Ood answered. "You know that."
His words hit home. The Endless cleared her throat, her voice rising in volume as she addressed the space around them. "I know you want to be heard, but not now. Stop."
The music swirled and with a final crescendo, stopped. The path they were standing on exploded into a flash of light and the area around them cracked and fell apart like a mirror that had been hit with a wrecking ball. Shielding her eyes, Death spoke over the roar of noise:
"Pearl! When I count to three, you need to jump! Ready?"
The light was comparable to a supernova, Death appearing as nothing but a faint blue outline against it. "One!"
The area began to warp, the Ood quietly vanishing.
"Two!"
There was grass, and a few trees running up to meet them as a familiar location worked on reforming.
"Three!" Death called, feeling the ground heave upwards before she took a leap, flying from the path, back towards their new destination: The campus.
