I know that everyone is distracted by the new arrivals and the coins, but I'd like to announce that this weekend, there will be a memorial for those who were lost in the invasion. It'll be held on the Redwood Deck in the Hoyt Arboretum, starting at 6pm on Saturday night (the 19th). There will be a chance for anyone who would like to speak about their experiences or the losses of their loved ones (though I think those on this network were lucky enough not to experience the latter). And some of it will involve candle lightings, but minimally, so that we don't burn the arboretum down.
If anyone wants to come early to organize, I won't turn down the help. (Thank you so much to Barry and Jess for all the work you've already put in, I couldn't have done it without you.) I think it's important that we honor everyone whose lives were lost or changed by that horrible siege, even if we didn't know them personally. Then maybe we can find our way back to our (relatively) normal lives, along with the native residents of the city.
