Who: Crowley and Elaine
Where: Out by a crossroad
When: Thursday evening
What: Crowley takes advantage of the situation at hand.
Status: Incomplete
Warnings: None at the moment

Algernon wasn't the only demon who had come through the wormhole. Algernon just happened to get lucky enough to find the body of some twit dumb enough to let himself get taken for a ride around the city. The reality of it all was that there were many demons all over just wanting for Crowley to command them. And he did, gladly and with specific details. They possessed people and reeked havoc on the city.

Hey, if this was something similar to what happened with the gender swap issue, then it was only a matter of time before things got boring again.

Crowley hated boring. And really who didn't? But to an immortal being, boring simply wouldn't do. If you had all the time in the world to kill, what would you do?

Crowley had his issues, sure, but he was still the King of Hell and a damn good Crossroads demon. Speaking of which... Some of his little demons had managed to catch someone at a crossroads willing to make a deal. This was what Crowley lived for. Dealmaking was his favorite pastime ever next to eating entrails.

The mission was simple. Go out into the city and put a bug in everyone's ear. Times were rough, but they wouldn't always be that way. And something could always be done about it. His demons had done a good job going about and spreading the lore of the Crossroads Demons around, how to summon them and all that jazz. It was almost too easy.

And now, someone had fallen into their trap. "Well well well, let's see what we've got here. Someone to bargain with perhaps?" He clapped his hands and stepped forward. "And how may I assist you today?"

Elaine was really sick of staying inside because of the never ending bad guys from the various worlds that different people came from. She also should have been the first one willing to help out in negotiations and whatever else needed to happen. After all, she had made deals with some of the most prominent countries around. She had also earned the respect of many back home. The President had wanted to run together on what had promised to be a winning ticket…. That was until Air Force One crashed near France. The memory of that was still very fresh in her mind. It just didn’t seem like demons or vampires and whatever else had bothered to invade Portland.

Elaine had decided to get some coffee and then make her way back home. She figured she’d better go check on the boys since it had been a while since she’d spoken to them. So with her coffee in hand she continued to walk around town. But then something changed and she realized maybe she should just go home.

She had only been by the crossroad for a couple of minutes when someone showed. He seemed smug and all too happy to find her there. She crossed her arms and shook her head. “And what makes you think I owe you anything at all? There is nothing I want from you.”

Crowley rolled his eyes and looked to every single demon that stood around him. He really looked at them, took in their forms before shaking their heads. "Amateurs," he commented lightly. "She didn't even summon a demon, you idiots! I said call me only when someone summons a demon. Do I have to do everything my bloody self?" It was so annoying. Algernon proved to be useful at least when it came to keeping the Winchesters entertained. He couldn't say the same for these pathetic excuses for demons.

"It's so hard to find good help these days, wouldn't you agree?" This was directed at the woman standing at the Crossroads. Clearly, she had a strong personality, and he could tell not only from her words but from the fact that she was walking about in broad daylight while the whole bloody city was under attack. That had to take some guts. "Anyway, hello, I'm Crowley. King of Hell, Prince of Darkness, Crossroads Demon, blah, blah, blah. And you are?"

Of course, she had right off the bat said she didn't need anything from him, which meant that she absolutely needed something from him. Everyone needed something from him at one point or another, whether they admitted it or not. That was the appeal of being the King of Hell. He had a great deal at his disposal, and it would do everyone well to remember that.

Clearly Elaine was not in a place she should’ve been and getting away could prove to be a bit more tricky than normal. But she also knew she needed to remain sharp and direct and not fall into any of these man’s tricks. So she listened as he spoke to the other demons as she learned that she was supposed to be summoned in order to come into contact with whoever was speaking to her.

He was referring to his “help” but speaking to her. She could think of plenty examples of not being able to get good help as he said. For one thing her own son pretty much sold her out to the press. But that wasn’t the kind of help he was referring to. There was also the chief of staff that was nearly completely useless. “It depends on where you look but generally I think it’s wiser to say it’s harder to find not only good but reliable help. But in general if you want something done, you either have to do it yourself or hope that who you have entrusted is a worthy of your trust.” She looked at him without batting an eye and not willing to break under pressure. “Those are some rather prestigious titles you hold Crowley. You can call me Elaine.”

"Elaine," he replied simply. "You make some valid points there, Elaine."

He wasn't kidding either. He found that while he preferred to work in the background of a plan, sending in his cronies to do most of the dirty work, he still had to step in for the hardcore stuff. This was supposed to be a high class deal here. Instead, it was more like a nursery. He was working with mere babies, and there was nothing more annoying than a baby demon.

"It's like managing a shop, am I right? You can hire employees to sit the shop and keep it open, but you've still got to be there to make sure it runs properly." He knew all about managing seemingly useless people. It wasn't so much in the work they were given but in the way they were treated. He wasn't beyond torture, as that was one of his favorite pastimes of course, but a healthy working environment revolved around giving and taking. "Give us a moment here, gents," he said to his fellow demons.

He stepped toward her with a curious grin. "You seem to know a lot in the way of public speaking, or at least how to make your words sound good. Ever consider a career in politics?"
