Oh. Lydia listened to her and she remembered her first kiss. Her first time. Her first everything. She couldn't imagine being that girl that remembered it all and the the guy remembered nothing. She wasn't really sure if that bothered Malia that Stiles didn't remember, she just spoke the obvious about the timelines being weird. They were. They were completely off.
Stiles was comfortable to her. He was reliable. Always there. A friend. He treated her well. It was different than the guys she usually went for. The self proclaimed bad boys, although right now, Stiles could probably give them all a run for their money. There was something wrong with him, something she couldn't understand, not right now anyway and while their little make out sessions were used only to distract him, she did feel something, but there was that line that she couldn't cross with him just because she knew she could. That wasn't fair.
"It doesn't matter. So by all means," Lydia nodded, giving Malia a tight lipped smile and then tilted her head. Lydia couldn't quite understand how this became that. Sometimes she liked Stiles like that. Sometimes. But even in those moments, Lydia knew she wasn't the girl for him. He deserved someone much better and she knew that he'd find that girl eventually. Lydia wasn't it.
"It's complicated. In the sense that I've known Stiles a long time and I know that I'm not what he needs." She gave Malia a long hard look before looking at the fire and she sighed, thinking about that. The silence had fallen on them, but only for a moment because there was a loud bang and both of the girls jumped. It was unexpected. Out of nowhere and the door to the chapel swung open, letting the cold air get in. Lydia moved to stand up, but Malia was already taking care of it.
Lydia followed the girl anyway and once she got the door closed, turned, looking back and there was that moment of complete shock. That certain look that Malia gave her before it was over and she was walking back toward the fireplace. It looked so familiar that Lydia nearly felt faint.
