The last thing Erica remembered was opening the door to Pete’s office to find that asshole had played her for a fool. How could Erica allow herself to be so stupid? She had hit the wall hard, knowing how screwed she was if information was traced back to her because that meant the deal was up. Erica would miss out on the years of her baby girl’s life because she allowed an asshole to use her. Erica’s father would have killed her for allowing some guy to take advantage of her like that. Erica wanted to smack herself for being so stupid. It was one thing if she didn’t know better, but she did. She learned a long time ago men couldn’t be trusted as she could only trust herself. Only that didn’t matter right now since when leaving Pete’s office, she woke up in a white room. The clothes she had been wearing were on, but this was not the building that she had been in. This place was nice and far from the run down building they worked out of so where was she? That freaky ass hologram didn’t help much only confused Erica more, but at least she knew a bit of what was going on. Erica just couldn’t understand how any of that was possible. Wormholes, waking up in weird places when sober, and just everything about this was weird to her. Part of her was glad for it because she was a free woman as no one here knew anything about her, but on the other hand, she was now away from her daughter and when she didn’t show up to be taken back to the jail, then was she considered running? Was the deal going to be over? After wrapping up inside and getting the piece of gum along with the picture of her daughter that she had, Erica exited the hospital. Portland never stuck out as a place Erica wanted to visit, cursing at the fog and the cold night air. Thankfully, she was in a long sleeve shirt but it was flimsy as it was what they allowed her to wear while out on the field along with her jeans and sneakers. Not exactly meant for this weather right now. As a cop walked by, Erica without even thinking about it touched her wrists for a very brief moment where the handcuffs should be right now as her, Lloyd, and Shea were brought down to the van for transport only that wasn’t happening. Turning in the opposite direction of the officer, Erica wasn’t quite sure where she was going or even what her next step should be, but she knew it wasn’t staying in front of that hospital. The address that the hospital gave her was tucked into her pocket; however, she wasn’t looking to head that way yet. As she walked down the street, watching the environment around her for anything out of the ordinary. That’s until she heard someone yelling in her direction, which before even looking she could tell it was some drunken college student from the way he was talking and acting. “Let me save you the trouble. Not even on your good day as you’re just a boy and I could already tell you couldn’t handle me. You need to get out of puberty before you can ride this fun ride. Also maybe learn to hold your alcohol better. Now fuck off,” Erica could care less if that was mean or not as it was the truth. Being in jail had her wanting sex more than anything, but she wasn’t trusting men right now and also she still had some standards in the men that she slept with. Rolling her eyes, she turned to continue on her way. Finding her house was the last thing on her list as Erica wanted to learn the area and see if this place was meant to look normal or if it was covering up some shady shit that people couldn't find. |
