Who: Adam and Wanda
Where: The hospital, neonatology
When: After this
What: Adam and Wanda have a fight and then makeup.
Status: Log/Complete
Warnings: It gets a little physical in more than one way

It wasn't that Wanda didn't care about Adam's feelings on the matter. It was just that her feelings on the matter were far stronger than his were. Or so she thought. It had been quite the pleasant surprise for her to walk into her house one day and find an assortment of medical supplies from her world just sitting there waiting for her. It was curious though, because she wasn't sure why she would need so many in a world with hospitals that treated everyone regardless of what species you were. It wasn't like back home when they needed to sneak around the hospital to get what they needed.

But as soon as Wanda read Adam's post about the virus spreading throughout the hospital, it all became perfectly clear. The wormhole was giving her the tools she needed to make a difference in this fight against disease, and she was going to put it to good use no matter what. She didn't know what had possessed her to walk straight into neonatology, but that was what she did. Some of the babies looked restless, and while she was not a doctor of any kind, there seemed to be so much commotion all around her that no one even noticed her presence there. It was almost as if she was invisible.

Slowly, she walked over to a baby who was clearly very sick indeed. She dropped her bag of supplies and sussed out the one she believed would help. With a dropper, Wanda procured a small amount of the liquid medicine and with care, proceeded to drip the medicine into the baby's mouth. And then she waited. The medicine from her world was supposed to act immediately. She had seen it happen so many times, but now, as she watched the baby continue to squirm and fuss, her worry only began to grow exponentially.

"There you are," said Adam, pushing through the door of neonatology and finding Wanda crouched over an incubator with a baby inside. "What the hell do you think you're doing?

That... might have been a little harsh, but Adam hadn't had a moment's rest in quite some time. In fact, he couldn't remember when was the last time he'd taken a break, nor even when his last cup of coffee was. Needless to say, he was being a little aggressive, though no where near as aggressive as he had seen people behaving all around the hospital. "It isn't safe here, Wanda." Besides, she may have been an alien, but she still had a human body, one that could just as easily be susceptible to the virus.

"If you're here, then this is where I have to be too. And I'm not leaving." The situation was twofold. While Wanda wanted to do her part in helping people infected by the virus, she also wanted to make sure Adam was okay. Should he happen to contract the virus just from being exposed to it at the hospital, at least she was there and ready to treat him with futuristic medicine. Though, from the looks of that baby, not even her futuristic medicine was doing much to help.

"Look." She showed him the bottle of medicine from her world. "During the time when people were getting gifts, I received a whole bunch of these. Maybe it was a sign that I didn't pick up on until now, but it's something that can help now." She looked at him with pleading eyes. "I have to try."

Adam couldn't take it anymore. The amount of stress he had been under lately was insurmountable, and the only thing that was keeping him going was the fact that Sam, Cas, Charlie and Wanda were no where near this situation here and would have less of a chance of getting contaminated. But now, Wanda had put herself in danger, all because she had this giant conscious or this giant disregard for her own life. He didn't know, but it was about enough to put him over the edge.

He smacked the container of medicine out of her hands, until it clanked loudly on the floor. Then, he pushed her up against a wall, not too forcibly though Wanda was small enough that a light gust of wind could likely knock her off her feet. "Are you insane? Don't you realize that by coming here, you put yourself at risk? How the hell am I supposed to protect you now? There's no medicine that can cure this. There's no vaccine to prevent it. And clearly your medicine from the future is shit too, because in 24 hours that baby there is going to die. And there's nothing you can do to stop it."

Wanda gasped when she was pushed up against the wall. She knew Adam had a temper, and she understood he was going through a lot lately with the spread of the virus, but she hadn't expected him to take out his rage on her. All she was trying to do was help. All she was trying to do was be there for him, and while his concern for her was palpable, it was also a little frightening. "I came for you," she said quietly. "I came because I wanted to be with you. No matter what happens. I always want to be with you, because..."

She paused, because a silent tear was trickling down her cheek, and it had halted her breathing. It all felt so familiar, like what humans called deja vu. But that wasn't real. It was a human fabrication to explain something they didn't understand, but she had to admit that it was the best explanation she had for this feeling at the moment. It felt like she had done this before, only in reverse. "Because I love you."

"God damnit, Wanda."

Adam's grip on her had lessened, but he was still fuming. He wanted to keep her safe, but she had a nasty habit of getting herself into trouble. He wanted to protect her, but sometimes, she made it so difficult. He wanted to be with her, and some part of him was glad that she was here, that he could touch her and hold her and feel her presence beside him. He wanted her.

Slowly, he slipped his hand across her cheek and brought his lips to hers in a fiery kiss. All his anxiety and frustration and stress pounded in his head, and he needed a release from it all. He wanted to be able to get away, to just be with Wanda in some sort of relative peace. But instead, he was pressing her up against a wall and kissing her in a room full of newborns. It was almost ironic. "Fuck it all," he sighed against her lips. "I love you too."

Once again, Adam managed to surprise her. She had been expecting some type of physical retaliation. She just hadn't expected it to be this amazing kiss full of passion and emotion. Her arms slid across his chest, wrapping themselves around his neck and pulling him closer. She hadn't realized just how wound up she was too, mostly from the fear that something would happen to Adam and that she wouldn't be there to help him.

As it often happened, Wanda lost herself in his kiss, forgetting the hospital, the virus, the stress and everything else in between. All that mattered was enjoying the moment, the feel of Adam's lips claiming hers, his hands roaming over her body, his hair in between her fingertips. She was in a world where only she and Adam existed, and it was the purest bliss she had ever experienced.

Adam deepened the kiss, slipping his arms around her waist and pulling her up onto a table. She was so small that even with her on a table, he still hovered over her, though now their heights matched a little better. Adam's rage was slowly converting into an enduring passion that he used to come to grips with himself. How could he not love this girl who so selflessly put herself in harm's way to be with him?

"I'm sorry," he murmured against her skin, trailing kisses all along her neck. All of a sudden, he felt incredibly talkative, as if saying those words had opened up the flood gates to everything that he kept hidden inside. "I've seen so many people die already. I didn't want you to be one of them. I love you. I love you so fucking much."

"Adam." Wanda felt herself slipping into their usual routine, where their bodies automatically followed each other and responded accordingly. As much as she would have liked to be with him right then and there, she knew it wasn't right. Biting her lip, it took all the strength she had to force her eyes open and to actually look at where they were. "Adam..."

Gently, she tilted his head up to meet her eyes. If she let him, they would surely lose all sense of reason without even thinking twice on it. "I love you too," she said quietly, unable to resist finding his lips again for another kiss. "We... have to try to help them." It was the least she could do to get them to stop. This was not the place nor the time for this.

Adam nodded. He knew what she meant and that she was right. They could do this at any other place and time. But not now. Not there. With a sigh, he pressed his forehead against hers, eyes still closed and digging deep for that self-restraint he knew he had buried somewhere inside of him. He could do this. He could do this for her.

"Stay with me, yeah?" And he wasn't sure if he meant for her to not wander off around the hospital or if it was a more long term commitment. But he wasn't about to clarify anything at the moment. His head was still spinning from their mind-numbing kisses.

"Always," Wanda replied easily. It didn't matter to her what his true meaning was. She had come here for him, and she wasn't about to let him out of her sight. But she was also devoted to him. He didn't just share Ian's face. He shared his heart too, and while he wasn't exactly the same, what mattered was that he was inherently good. And that was all Wanda could ever ask for.
