“Mistletoe is a parasite.”
Harry turned from where he was hanging the small ball of the plant in the doorway between the kitchen and the sitting room. “It’s a tradition, Severus.”
“Tradition. And how does such a plant invoke the act of kissing?”
Harry sighed. “Well, according to a custom of Christmas cheer, any two people who meet under a hanging of mistletoe are obliged to kiss.”
“Interesting. A kiss under a vampiric, parasitic plant is to bring about cheer?”
Harry finished tacking up the decoration and shrugged. “I guess, the Romans thought it brought about good fortune as well.”
He walked over to where Severus sat on the sofa and took his book away from him before straddling his lap. Holding up another ball of mistletoe over Severus‘ head, Harry leaned forward and smiled seductively at Severus. “Want to test it out?”
Severus arched an eyebrow and reached for his book. “I’m allergic.”
Harry shook his head. “Shut up and kiss me.”
Severus smirked. “I hadn’t realized it was such a forceful tradition.”
Harry rolled his eyes and pressed his mouth to Severus’, cutting off anymore snide remarks.
Severus broke the kiss and shook his head. “I think this bears further experimentation. I’m not fully cheered yet.” He said dryly and pulled Harry to him again.
