Utena dreamed that she wandered through an underworld of darkness and pain. At the heart of this despairing world she found a towering rosebush that grew from a gravestone throne. Perched on the throne was Anthy Himemiya in her flowing white nightie. Her violet hair was loose and rippled down to her waist and all the dim light of the twilight place seemed to be reflected in her glasses. In her hands she held a pomegranate, big as a basketball.
“Miss Tenjou,” Anthy greeted Utena cheerfully, holding out the fruit. “Come share with me, then we can be together always.”
“I’ve never eaten a pomegranate before,” Utena admitted. “I wouldn’t know how.”
“I’ll show you,” Anthy said. She took her glasses off, carefully folding the bows and setting them aside then without violence the tore the giant pomegranate in two. “Here,” she showed Utena the inside of the fruit, the mounds of juicy seeds hanging in jeweled clusters. “Like this,” she said and pressed the whole of her face into the pomegranate, licking and sucking till the red juice ran down her chin.
She drew back then, focusing on a single seed, teasing it with teeth and tongue, worrying it loose till at last it rested between her lips. She took it from her mouth and with thumb and forefinger, popped the garnet fruit into Utena’s astonished mouth.
“Now you,” Anthy said but instead of passing the pomegranate to Utena she let her nightgown fall open, slip aside so she was naked. She parted her slender brown thighs and Utena saw between them a curve of glistening, rose colored fruit-meat. She fell to her knees before the throne, she licked and sucked as Anthy had shown her till juice ran down her chin. She found the seed of Anthy’s clit and teased with her tongue as Anthy moaned and writhed, legs splayed over the arms of the throne.
“You can’t save me,” Anthy said, “but since you’ve tasted my fruit you can never leave me.”
Utena woke shivering but wet between the legs wondering if Anthy, who slept chastely nearby, was Persephone or Hades.
