Yeah, it does.

I could make a big, poetic speech about how you were one of the reasons I came to PI in the first place, or how I wanted to protect others because I wasn't protected when I needed to be. Those are both true, but the honest answer is that our powers would be formidable if combined. I'm a psychic who can create tangible weapons and barriers, and I can engage in close combat as well as in ranged. I could give you extra fortification, and provide you with both defense and offense. I would be a logical asset to your particular skillset.

I'm not front lines hero material. I don't say the right things at the right times. I'm not great at showing empathy, and I can be callous without meaning to be. But I understand how mentally challenging being a psychic is, and how much we give of ourselves. I understand the risks we have to take all the time to be able to do what we do. We make ourselves vulnerable to protect the vulnerable.

There are a number of reforms needed in my opinion, but in this situation in particular providing more god damn resources and man power to the police and courts is one of them. Criminals shouldn't walk free because of staffing shortages, incompetence, mishandling of evidence, or lack of training. If we're going to insist on being a society that focuses on incarceration versus correction, or treatment then criminals shouldn't walk because the strain on the system allows for loopholes.
