Jess, though tired from the long travel period, hadn't been able to go back to sleep after she'd been turned loose in her bedroom early that morning. Instead, she'd worked to do some unpacking and organizing, then showered and posted a short introduction on the journal system. With the formalities taken care of, all that was really left was to learn the lay of the house, and hopefully meet some of the people with whom she'd be spending the next year.
She slid into a pair of faded jeans and a soft cream sweater, braiding her hair back to keep it out of her face. Though she normally didn't much bother with makeup for anything less than a special occasion, she supposed this counted as special occasion enough to put on a little bit. First impressions mattered, after all. Then it was just a matter of boots and she was ready to go. Logical as ever, she decided the place to start would be the first floor.
Making her way downstairs, she bypassed the doors that clearly looked like bedrooms (and were closed), instead picking what looked like a den or family room. Once inside, she saw that it actually connected with another room filled with games - pool, roulette, poker, and a jukebox. Clearly a party room, if the bar hadn't given it away. And behind the bar it looked to be another person. Jess offered up a polite smile as she made her way inside. "Good morning," she said, deciding to make a small joke. "Starting early?"
