If Audrey had blatantly told him he looked like the kind of person who would lose his head if it weren't attached to his neck, Nate would become uncomfortable, but he would acknowledge, at least internally, that she was right. Instead, when she said the complete opposite, Nate couldn't help the slight widening of his eyes. The truth was, Nate generally knew he wanted money, and happiness would be cool too, but he had no idea how to get it, so he was wandering lost in life.
Conflict resolution was clear enough that Nate had an inkling of what Audrey must of done, even though he didn't really know what human resources was. She must have made sure employees didn't fight with each other or something, or maybe she talked to people in different countries and told them how to act in Australia. Australia was like America in that people from all over the world lived there, right? So that made sense. "Oh, then I get why you came here," he said, trying to sound wise.
Silence settled between them, and Nate stared at the wall. Sometimes it was impossible for him to think up things to say. "That's okay," he finally muttered, far beyond the normal reply time limit, "you don't gotta think of a job for a whole year."
