"Sydney," Audrey confirmed. "Born and raised. Last time it snowed there was in eighteen-thirty-something? But that's just the city area. Up in the mountains, they get a lot of snow every winter. Big ski industry up there. But not so much where I'm from. Doesn't mean I don't know about it, though. I vacation." She nodded in his direction. "You're American." Pretty easy to spot, what with the accent and all. She wasn't as familiar with American regional accents, though, so pinpointing where in the country he hailed from was tough.
She watched him try to look less like the heat was affecting him - they were subtle moves, but Audrey had made a lifelong study of body language. Important, in her line of work. Well, both of them. Reading bodily cues wrong was a sure ticket to screwing up her objective, whatever that might be. The fact that he was even trying told her a lot, though she'd had her suspicions already. His tone confirmed it. Sensitive little boy, wasn't he?
"All right," she said, accepting his self-diagnosis with an easy shrug of one shoulder. "Where are you from, then?"
