That Avery immediately stood once Miles excused him wasn't a surprise in the least, and as much as Miles had been enjoying the conversation, he wasn't disappointed. They had a whole year to talk, and he was sure they would again several times without being able to help it. Soon enough, unless people kept changing by dropping out and being replaced, everyone would be old news.
"Have a good night." He didn't stand to see Avery off, but did politely face the other man until Avery headed away, at which point Miles turned back to the fireplace. It had been nice listening to the silence before. Total silence was a good sign. The ghosts always seemed to take a while to catch up to him.
