"Not much of a race if I broke everyone's legs first," Audrey said with a little laugh. There was something very subtle in her tone, however, that might make one doubt whether or not she was serious. Just because she wasn't turning away the potential for a partner in the early days of their experiment didn't mean she'd hesitate to take out anyone who got in her way. Their bet was a tiny thing, though, so the chances of her seriously injuring anyone to secure a win were low. Unless she was really bored.
Her smile matched his. "They don't," she said simply. No point pretending otherwise. More than half the time, they were paying for it. No matter the job she was there to do, Audrey was very, very good at it. Turning her attention back to the matter of Chris, Audrey pursed her lips thoughtfully. "Wonder which of us would win in a fight? I'll have to put it on my to-do list." And maybe Chris himself, too. "All right. First thing you want to do when we're sprung?" She was itching to get down to the gym for a real workout.
