Avery's sister had used to poke at him about Violette while he'd been dating her. You don't ever want anyone to touch you... what do you need with a girlfriend? she'd asked. It was different. That was the only reply he'd ever been able to give her. He'd held Violette's hand and kissed her chastely over the course of their dating relationship, and that wasn't anywhere near the same thing as not wanting random people to slap him on the back, put their hands on his arm, his shoulder, so on and so forth. He was always relieved to meet a person who respected personal boundaries, and Lina definitely seemed to be one of those.
"Detroit," he repeated with a slight nod. "Bet you're used to this weather." He'd always heard that Michigan got a lot of snow. It still didn't seem quite real to him that he was somewhere that got this much of the white stuff, even if he didn't know exactly where. He decided the snowsuit was satisfactory and draped it over one arm to take with him when he left.
