The sight of Bobby touching each of the cupboard handles as he opened them was mildly distressing, because it made Avery think about how many people were in the house, all touching things, possibly with unwashed hands. The way he felt about that made him feel like a freak, but he couldn't help it. He finished washing the pan he was going to use, getting his hands nicely soapy for good measure, then rinsed it and found a clean dishtowel to dry everything off. "Probably," he replied. "There's a lot of people. Someone should be able to cook." He set the pan on the stove and went about the process of finding cheese, bread, butter and a plate on which to put the finished sandwich.
