Format: IJ or LJ. I will consider GJ though I’d prefer to avoid it since it’s appeared to be in a state of imminent collapse for quite a few months.
Experience: I’ve been playing for about a year now and I’ve been writing fanfic for several years
Characters:
Severus Snape - I play Severus as he turned out in canon – mean, nasty, sarcastic, snarky, sardonic but working for the side of good. Not necessarily a good man but not an evil man either. Of late I’ve been incorporating the backstory that was given in DH regarding his home life and Lily though I still tend to play him as someone who, while he still loves Lily and that still influences some of his actions, has moved on. Basically I play him as a man who will do what is necessary, no matter what the cost to himself or others. In regards to shipping for Severus, I’m not picky but there would have to be justification for that particular relationship.
Fenrir Greyback - My Fenrir is evil, definitely evil. He’s not exactly a Death Eater as he doesn’t have the Mark and he doesn’t particularly care about Voldemort’s political agenda. He’s thrown in with the Death Eaters because they’re offering him what he wants. In terms of post-DH, I play him as more or less neutral. Evil but neutral. He’ll throw in with whoever offers him what he wants. I also tend to play him as the direct opposite of Lupin – Fenrir loves being a werewolf, he embraces it and if it suits the game I have a little twist I like to throw in regarding that.
Rabastan Lestrange - My newest boy. I play the younger of the Lestrange brothers as a little flighty and impulsive but still intelligent and when he’s interested in something, scarily focussed. He’s unpleasant in nature but can be very charming when he wants to be and adores the Dark Arts. I generally also play him as both loving and hating his brother.
I’d also be interested in playing either Aberforth or Albus Dumbledore, Sirius Black or Remus Lupin (though I refuse to play emo!Lupin. Remus has his flaws but I’ve never seen him as emo)
What I'm Looking For:
- Trio-era, Marauder-era, post-DH (but please, please, please let it be EWE.) – basically anything with a good plot. AU is fine as well.
- The game must be 18+. This is for legal reasons given my other requirements for a game.
- I would prefer a game with a good, long-term plot. I dislike games that degenerate into who’s marrying who, baby-making and pointless soap opera-style plots that are simply laughable.
- I also prefer a darker plot and a game that allows mature posts and plots. By mature, I’m talking sex, violence, adult themes etc. Given the characters I prefer, that’s really something important.
- The game must be slash-friendly but I would prefer it if smut/sex posts are not the be-all and end-all. I like smut and sex posts as much as the next person but I’d like real plot as well.
- Games must be realistic. That is, if a character does something illegal, they will face the appropriate consequences if caught. If they do something stupid, they will face the consequences of their stupidity.
- Good spelling and grammar. It doesn’t have to be perfect but it does need to be as good as possible. No netspeak and preferably a game that remembers that HP is set in Britain. I really dislike seeing the Weasleys refer to their mother as ‘Mom’. It sounds petty but if a player can’t or won’t make a change that small then it makes me fear for what else they might do.
What I am not looking for:
- Drama-llama. This is an absolute no-no. I hate it with a passion. I’ve played in games with OOC drama and it was highly unpleasant.
- Mary-sues and/or a lot of OCs. There are enough characters in canon to play without adding hundreds of OCs and in my experience, OCs tend to have distinct Mary-Sueish tendencies. I’m a little more lenient with Marauder-era games but even there I would prefer to see canon characters given preference.
- Fluffy games with no plot or point.
- AIM-based games or games with a lot of IM-logging. I can’t spend hours on IM rping. I work and I study and while I can tag while at work, I can’t chat endlessly. I also dislike the kind of RP that IM-logging promotes. It borders on encouraging one-liners.
- No future era games. I don’t like the Epilogue so don’t point me to games revolving around it.
- I’m not saying no to games that have already been in play for long periods but I don’t want to have to spend hours wading through backstory and reading endless threads to get a feel for how the character has been played.
