She was still drunk. Not nearly as drunk as she was when she left the pub but she was still pretty buzzed. Katie couldn't say what woke her up but for the last hour she'd been staring at her ceiling, listening to the soft snores of the men around her, silent tears trailing down her cheeks. There was a knot in her stomach that had nothing to do with everything she'd had to drink but was filled with anxiety and heartbreak over Pansy Parkinson- no, Pansy Flint's arrival.
Dread. Fear. Heartbreak. All three waited for her and she wasn't ready to confront it. She wanted one more night. She needed the closure. At least, that's what she told herself.
Shivering, she slowly sat up before glancing down at what she was wearing. She'd had Oliver's Puddlemere jersey on earlier but she must've changed or he'd helped her change. Somehow, she was in a long sleeve shirt and a pair of knickers. Katie was fairly certain those are the ones she'd started the day in.
Long legs swung over the side of the bed, feet hitting the cold floor. It was raining out, the soft drops of water hitting against the thatched roof. Another shiver and she wrapped her blanket around her, slipping into her sneakers before grabbing the little felt family Olivia had made for Marcus and making her way quietly out of her hut. She couldn't sleep. She couldn't stop thinking about Marcus and Pansy and Olivia. All of it.
It wasn't that surprising that she ended up in Marcus's hut, her feet finding the path in the dark. Quietly, so as not to wake his sleeping hutmates, Katie toed off her sneakers and dropped the slightly damp blanket on the floor. She stared down at him, heart quickening before throwing caution to the wind and sliding in next to him.
A lump formed in her throat when he didn't even stiffen. His arm wrapped around her and her head found his chest, bodies pressed close together in the dark night, words hanging between them but neither wanting to speak. Instead, she brushed a kiss along his jaw until she her lips found his.
