WHO: Steve Rogers et All
WHAT: Steve's little art school showing.
WHEN: Friday/Saturday/Sunday night 7pm
WHERE: Pratt Institute
WARNINGS: Maybe language depending on who comes.
The first person Steve ever showed his art to was his Ma. It was a typical kid's drawing but his Ma had fawned over it and told him it was great. She had encouraged art as a way for Steve to do something when he couldn't run around and play with other kids. Every time he was sick in bed and couldn't do anything besides try to recover he'd sketch or read about the old Renaissance masters. Art had been the one thing he could do better than any other kid and got him just a little respect.
When he got out of the ice and started his life over in the future art hadn't held the same appeal as before. He tried to sketch, tried to paint, tried anything but he just couldn't get into it like before. It was only after the Accords and his retirement that Steve fully got back into art and decided to go back into art classes. It was difficult at first but he got back into it, found it actually fulfilling and enjoyable again. He was proud of his work, proud of his talent even if he didn't brag about it to people.
He had never done a gallery showing before. This was a first for him. It was a few paintings and sketches hung on the walls of a conference room that was set up as a temporary gallery for this event. The other students were very excited, chatting with their friends and family and other students. Steve stood by his little section of the show chatting with people who walked by and asked about his work. He had a lot of landscapes. While wandering the city he would stop and draw whatever caught his eye. He also had a few portraits, not many because he felt bad drawing people without their permission.
It was a little awkward every time someone recognized him because then it wasn't about his art it was about Captain America. He did his best to smile his way through all the questions about it and signed the occasional autograph for someone but he really did his best to keep people focused on the art instead of him. He really just wanted to be Steve Rogers for this.
At least he knew he could expect some friends and the people he considered family to stop by. The only person he had really shared his art with before was Bucky. Peggy had seen some of it during the war too. And, well, there was a lot of art in the Smithsonian too. Okay, so he had shared his art before but this was the first time he was deliberately sharing it with a lot of people. It was a big deal to him.
He hoped people liked it.
