Due to the recent events at Hogwarts, the Ministry have insisted we apply new rules to the school.
So, as of today, leaving the school, aside from visits to Hogsmeade on assigned weekends (or evenings for 8th years) is strictly forbidden. I'm afraid this means that we cannot allow you to visit home. If you leave the school for any prolonged period of time without giving a good reason, your place at the school will be revoked and you will be required to repeat next year or be home schooled to pass your exams in May.
8th year students, I'm afraid this is the last time you will be permitted to resit for your N.E.W.Ts, so please give serious thought to leaving the school. I know everything is a little scary at the moment, but the Aurors are doing all they can to keep us all safe.
Also, as of today, visits to the school will be prohibited unless permission is given first. A visitor's pass will be issued after we've received an owl stating when and for how long the visitor will be on Hogwarts grounds. We can't allow outside visitors to stay on the grounds, so visits may not last past 7pm. If you lose your visitor's pass at any time, please inform a member of Hogwarts staff immediately.
The Aurors have also requested that students do not leave the castle after dark (which is about 9pm I believe) for your own safety. Apparently they've seen quite a few of you sneaking around the Quidditch pitch or greenhouses.
I'm sorry, I know the castle can get a little stuffy, but it's better safe than sorry!
Any other questions, don't hesitate to come and see me in The Headmistress' my office.
Signed,
Headmaster Flitwick
