When Verity spoke, Angelina froze. "You know...?" she asked, practically in a whisper. Did that mean Verity knew about Fred? Had she seen him as well? Angelina tried to figure out just how Verity might know, assuming Ang hadn't let something slip. Of course, Angelina wasn't cluing into the fact Verity was referring to the chaos of today, involving the two girls, and Alicia a few days earlier. No, Angelina's mind was not all that at the moment, and she instantly thought about Fred.
Verity had to know that Angelina and George were close friends, but she assumed Verity didn't know about their relationship. Realistically, hardly anyone did, but George may have told her. Verity was right, George had become fairly withdrawn, but it concerned Angelina less than her. He'd lost his twin, which couldn't have been easy, and Ang had been one of the few non-Weasleys Fred's death had greatly affected. Of course Verity had been close to Fred, but in a different way.
"I... well, yeah. I haven't been sleeping well again. It took me months to finally sleep well after the battle, and I'm afraid that touch of insomnia is returning." Of course, Angelina left out the fact that she could only sleep through the night when George stayed with her. Otherwise her mind and her heart raced much too quickly for Angelina to get a decent night's sleep. Had Angelina been in any other mindset, she would have noticed Verity's hesitation and the way the girl kept creeping away. For now, Angelina was oblivious, lost in her own troubles.
