Megan gave Ioan's hand a gentle squeeze as she looked him over. He didn't look as bad as she thought he would - but she noticed the piece of his ear that was missing and winced. Whomever had done that to him was in the castle and they couldn't be sure who it was without Ioan telling them. And she knew he wouldn't. The way he tensed up - she knew that reaction well. He was scared of someone.
His voice wasn't even his own. It was almost emotionless and it made Megan's heart ache. She felt helpless. She didn't know what she could do for him, but she hadn't asked either. She supposed she should so maybe she'd get some kind of answer from him. All she wanted to do was curl up beside him and hold him.
"Is there anything I can do?" she asked, her thumb gently stroking the back of his hand.
