The Curse
As soon as Augustus delivered Rosemerta to him, Stephen began to work. She was unconscious and after dripping a potion between her lips he ensured she would never wake up. He laid her out carefully on a table in the basement of his home and stripped away her clothing so he could reach her chest. He placed the tip of his wand between her breasts and began to chant. Still beating, Rosemerta's heart was extracted from her body and placed within a wooden box onto which Stephen had spent most of his past week carving the required binding spell runes. His fingers were slick with Rosemerta's blood and the wood of his wand was glowing with a dull orange burn just as the whispered chant of the ancient magic reached its crescendo. Voldemort reached out and turned the key to lock the beating heart away. He gripped the trembling wand in his hand and spoke the final words to seal the spell. "Tenent vinculum!" His wand splintered into shards and the spell reached out in every direction, seeking those related to the lifeblood that powered it and further, creeping through connections of love to reach everyone it could. And when the binding was complete, the net was pulled taut and those trapped in it were dragged into the cage... |
