"Well-" Penny wanted to say something, and she was desperate to say something that would change his mind. "Surely we can just move them somewhere safer? Somewhere no one else can get to them? And then they'll calm down, and it'll be fine. You can remind them that not all people are bad- I mean, they're still only young, aren't they? There's still time?" There was no need for them to be set free now, right? If they responded to their students then they could be calmed down and soothed, right? She didn't have a lot of behavioural experience with anything that wasn't a mammal, but she couldn't see why they couldn't be calmed.
"Just explain- we can both explain to McGonagall. We can get them a room in the castle and just put a password on it that only you and the students know. Then they won't- they'll be safe?" Penny's hand moved in slow circles on his back, trying to soothe him, though she wasn't going to admit she could see how close he was to crying.
