Her father always ordered for her mother. She had always thought it romantic until about... five seconds ago or so. Until she realized it was actually about asserting dominance. Unlike most pureblood marriages, Daphne's mother was a take charge kind of lady and liked to rule the house. Her father was more laid back and took control very rarely. Dinner was one of those things, when they were in public, and they had to put on the show. Stephen didn't do that. It seemed like he thought about it, but then changed direction and gave her the choice.
Daphne closed her menu softly and smiled up at the waiter. "I'll have the smoked salmon."
She finished the rest of her first glass of wine and signaled for a refill, already feeling her mother's stare boring into her. She would hear about that later. "So, tell me, Stephen. How many children are we to have?" She just wanted to see the reaction, to know what to expect.
