Daphne honestly smiled at that, her eyes lighting up. She knew they were both nervous, but it was something entirely to hear it being said. "I'm sure we have much more in common." It almost came out as a question, there was still an inquisitive lilt at the end of the sentence. But she wanted it to be fact. She needed it to be fact. They were going to be married, in just over a week. This meeting was the first day of the rest of their lives, whether they liked it or not. They needed to have more in common to tolerate each other for years to come, especially if they were going to have children. Oh, no. She was going to stop that thought right there in it's tracks.
Her smile grew a little more as Stephen stumbled across his words. He was a bit awkward and it was.. Well, it was charming.
The thought of NEWTs and school though defeated her a little. One of her big arguments against her parents was that she wouldn't be returning to school. But apparently, that wasn't necessary for her. She didn't need school and she could take her NEWTs in the spring, if she felt it very necessary. Though what could she possibly need them for? Her job was to be a good wife and eventually, a good mother.
"I was, oh," she sighed and closed her eyes before painting on a fake pleased look. "I was taking Charms, Defense, History of Magic and Arithmancy and Ancient Runes." Like most of the Slytherin girls who allowed themselves to be seen a certain way, Daphne was much smarter than she appeared. She had to be if she wanted to go into Wizarding Law. Although, that didn't seem to be in her future anymore. "What were you taking? Will you still be taking your NEWTs?" That was important. If he was, maybe she could as well. They would be married, making their own decisions. Maybe he would allow her, if he didn't think it silly.
