Summary: Remus finds himself up Sybill's tower. No, literally.
A/N: My first LMoM attempt! Thanks to Lia's quick-beta! Each story is going to be prompted by a randomly drawn runestone. Today's rune means "bad advice... be careful not to become so involved in the situation that [you] become unable to make clear decisions" (Horik Svensson's The Runes)
Why Remus had agreed to this he would never figure out. One moment he was patrolling the dark, echoing corridors of Hogwarts, being congratulated by the portraits on his professorial appointment. The next, he was up a ladder and seated upon the frilliest pink cushion he'd ever seen. He thought his Grandmother Lupin might have had one like it.
Across from him, a pair of ultra-magnified eyes stared at him over a table illuminated only by candlelight. "Let us look into the great mystical beyond," a tremulous voice said, and Remus suppressed the urge to snicker.
"Sybill, I don't mean to be ungracious but I failed Divination the first year I took it," Remus said. "I, ah, don't think I'm in tune with the right vibrations."
"Nonsense, I knew the moment I saw you that you are in touch..." her voice fell to a dead whisper, "with the supernatural."
Resisting the urge to point out that every Witch and Wizard who did the simplest Summoning spell was in touch with the supernatural, thank you very much, Remus coughed politely. "My tea leaves used to spell rude messages. Or so James told me." He grinned at the memory, Prongs handing over a teacup whose leaves were very clearly in the shape of a fist with its middle finger upraised.
"All you need is to follow my own inner eye into the Void, my dear," she said, lifting a censer and swinging it erratically. A tidal wave of purple perfumed fog engulfed him and he choked as its cloying sweetness wormed its way into his respiratory tract. Well... if she put it like that, he was feeling pleasantly drowsy. Very pleasantly indeed. His eyelids and his arms were heavier than usual, and earlier thoughts of making an excuse and fleeing dissipated in the fog.
"I suppose I can take a whack at it," Remus said with a shrug, glancing down at the table again. The crystal ball, which had until that moment been dark and cold, flared to life. Its luminosity filled the room, dazzling him. Was that hashish he smelled in the fog? Ah well, it was such a nice hashishy smell. He turned his attention to the crystal, where pale smoke was writhing in strange patterns that seemed to be etching themselves into his very corneas.
Yes, that was definitely quality hash. He wondered if Dumbledore knew about it... or if the mad old Wizard had supplied her with it in the first place.
Anyway. The shapes were undulating in a familiar way, a stray wisp of smoke arching like someone's back, a tumble of hair, a falling cloak.... He blinked. He saw faces now, faces and bodies. A man and a woman, and one looked like him. He was on his back, knees bent and feet planted on the floor. He was naked but unscarred, biting his lip as he thrust his hips upward. She was on top, her mane of wild hair cascading down her slender back. She sat atop him, leaning backward, reaching behind her to hold his knees for balance.
The Remus watching the crystal ball took a breath, his eyes never leaving the image. Within the smoke, his hands were skimming up and down her sides, letting her ride him. He could almost hear her moaning. The smoky Remus sat up quickly, toppling her over and rolling them until he was on top. Kneel above her, he held each of her ankles, spreading her wide as he plunged into her again. She arched off the ground, yowling with pleasure.
As he watched, Remus became aware of a deep, wonderful ache. He hadn't even noticed that he'd become hard but watching himself with this wild woman, whose nails were raking his chest as they thrust against each other, how could he help himself? He needed to get a better look, to see who she was. Was this his future? Was Divination at last paying off for him? He leaned closer, angling for a different view. The image shimmered a little, and then he saw that the woman was not looking at the Remus in the crystal ball but up and out at Remus himself. Peering through her bejewelled spectacles, she looked positively feline in her satisfaction.
"Sybill?" he asked hazily. A sudden pressure against his groin jolted him back to the present and he glanced down at his lap, where a foot covered in smeared henna designs was massaging his cock through his trousers.
"Sybill!" he gasped, indignant. Bolting to his feet, he sent his chair tumbling. The crystal ball went dark.
"Yes?" she asked, the picture of innocence. "Did you See, my dear?"
Remus spluttered. "Oh, I see. I certainly do see. Good evening Sybill." He strode past her, through the thick purple haze, and to the trapdoor. Climbing down a ladder had never been quite so uncomfortable in his entire life.
