18 ~ When Severus Speaks, It Behooves Founders to Listen Closely
Waking up wrapped in each other’s arms was the only normal thing as far as Remus was concerned. The bedroom—a hidden room within Hogwarts Castle—was far more opulent than they’d thought.
There were portraits of all four of Hogwarts’ Founders on the wall opposite: Godric winked at the two in the bed while Salazar reached from his frame to Godric’s to swat him on the back of the head; Rowena preened, braiding her hair and twining ivy into the tresses; and, last but not least, an icy blonde with surprisingly bright blue and laughing eyes grinned at Remus’ mussed appearance mouthed ‘Helga’ at him.
Remus grinned back and then turned back to Severus’ sleeping form. He pushed his hand lower under the covers, ignoring the portraits in favor of the man at his side. Remus petted Severus, his fingertips mapping the soft trail of hair that led from Severus’ chest and grew thicker as it circled his quiescent cock. That cock was quiet until Remus grasped it gently and began stroking it to just under the mushroom head.
The Founders in their portraits watched as Remus folded the covers back wandlessly. He was so intent on keeping Severus asleep as he stroked his lover’s prick to full hardness. Rowena was almost falling out of her frame and Salazar had to reach from his frame to grab the back of her gown.
Remus put his face over Severus’ stomach, his mouth open as he panted warm air over the twitching head. With gentle, persistent strokes that became firmer with each sleepy sigh Severus gave, Remus brought Severus to a relaxed climax. Remus caught the pearlescent stream in his mouth, on his tongue and his cheek, moaning as the wet scent of Severus filled his senses. Severus opened one eye and pulled Remus up to lick the traces of himself from Remus’ flushed skin.
Helga’s oohs and ahs and Rowena’s applause finally impinged on Remus and Severus’ consciousnesses. Severus rolled away from Remus with a muttered imprecation and stalked majestically toward the portrait wall.
“You lot should be ashamed of yourselves!” Severus gritted out. “We’ve been running and hiding for a fortnight. I’ve had to share my lover--my mate!—d with three of you nosy blighters and I’ve had enough!” Severus stood up straight and tall and pointed at the Founders’ portraits; a thick curtain covered each frame and only squeaks of distress came from behind them. “Teach you to make my mate and me a voyeur’s holiday!” he snarked.
Remus crawled from the bed and crept up behind Severus silently. Severus only flinched a bit when he was embraced from behind. “You were magnificent, Severus! A real Ares going into battle.” Remus turned Severus in his arms and kissed the divot at the base of his throat. “Do I have to tell you how much that makes me want you?” Remus rolled his hips against Severus’ thigh.
“Oh, ho! All it takes is me naked and militant to warm your blood?” Severus asked with a sly grin. He put a finger under Remus’ chin and tipped him up for a more thorough kiss. “Come back to bed and show me just how much you want me.” Severus walked Remus backward to the bed and then drew the curtains, just in case the Founders broke his privacy spells.

Narcissa Malfoy pushed the hood from her head with a shaking hand. Once more Aurora Sinistra had come before the Keepers of the Sheaf with plans to remove Remus Lupin before he could find out exactly who—and what—his mother was. She remembered the werewolf as a fine man—once she’d seen him save her son from Greyback’s filthy advances and his fierce defense of Severus at the war’s end. The cloak fell toward the floor to be caught inches from the floor by two silent house-elves.
“Dimple! Dimple, where are you?” Narcissa called out as she pushed open the library doors. She stopped on the sill as Draco looked up from a scroll on the desk. “Draco! Why didn’t you let me know you were coming for a visit?”
“Mother.” Draco stood up and rounded the desk to greet his mother with a hug. “I didn’t think you had anything on your calendar and I had some research that needed our resources.” Narcissa gave him a questioning glance from under her eyelashes and Draco explained. “Harry and I would like to promote Alchemy as a subject at Hogwarts.”
Narcissa didn’t flinch when she heard the word ‘Alchemy’ but Draco caught the slight change of her pupil flaring in surprise. “I’ve already visited the Headmistress and now it’s just a matter of writing a proposal for the Board of Governors. I thought I’d seen something on that in the archives.”
“Draco, it ill becomes you to dance around the bush like a Gryffindor. And it shows a lack of subtly that as a Slytherin you should exemplify. I know why you are here.” Narcissa crossed to a Louis XIV settee and sat down to pick at the gold threads. “You know I am a Keeper of the Sheaf and you want to know why Remus Lupin is at risk.”
“I would never attempt to put anything past you, Mother. We owe him, and he is Severus’ mate.” Draco sat across from his mother and then leaned over to grab her hand, thus saving the gold threads. “And I know you’ve found solace with both of them.” Narcissa almost pulled her hand away in surprise as Draco continued, “I’m not a child nor am I blinded by filial love, Mother. You always look more relaxed after a visit with Severus.”
“Oh, Draco! I should have known you were more Slytherin than that!” Narcissa squeezed his hand and then let go, leaning back with a sigh. “Remus didn’t know what a Pandora’s Box he was opening when he began asking about his mother. Her people have gone to great lengths to hide from the rest of the Wizarding World.”
Dimple the house-elf popped into the library with a tea trolley carrying a full tea. He silently readied the cups for the Malfoys, made up plates, and finally rolled it closer as Narcissa and Draco spoke in low tones. His ears heard, of course, and he filed away the information that the Malfoys—far from being on the Keepers’ side were trying to help Remus Gryffindor and Severus Slytherin. When Draco winked at him, Dimple winked back and popped away, glad that his family was on its way to gaining its proper glory.
