17 ~ In which the Touchstone Rises, Remus Howls, and Severus Perseveres
A whooshing surge of Earth Magick exploded out of Hogwarts Castle, touching all the students, staff, animals and interlopers alike. Spells were instantly more powerful, more magical. Minerva McGonagall hissed like a scalded cat when her Transfiguration of a potato to a small carved box became a jewelry box of soapstone. Aurora Sinistra watched her astronomical charts burn and then suddenly reconstitute themselves with the proper alignment of stars for several hundreds years into the future. Even the ghosts of Hogwarts were dealt a glancing blow, receiving in that whisper of instance an infusion of Earthly memories to carry until the ends of their haunting days.
The old castle shivered under everyone’s feet, jostling Finch and Mrs. Norris out their shared nap. The two of them glowed—just like the stones and wood of the castle—as the Earth Magick sought the air. As the magic rushed away, Finch wished he’d had the brains to be born a tom cat and suddenly, there he was as one. And Mrs. Norris was pleased.
In the depths of the castle, the house-elves soaked up the surge, flinging it to other house-elves in an ever-widening ripple until the Earth Magic was tempered enough to fly free into the night sky. If for some reason the house-elves seemed to hold themselves straighter or speak more clearly when with those who valued them above what they could do, well…the Earth Magick added that secret to their repertoire, too. It also called for several elder house-elves to appear in the niche to the side of the Chamber of Secrets.

Godric and Salazar’s mouths were open in a silent scream in the stillness of the Earth Magick explosion. The Touchstone plinth had grown higher and wider, now more a bed of stone than just an altar. Remus, Rowena and Severus were ablaze with the confluence of all four Elemental Magicks: Remus wore both aspects of Man and Beast; Rowena had feathers down her spin and over her closed eyes; and, Severus sported a line of emerald and gold scales from just under the hair at the back of his head to the cleft of his arse. The tableau broke apart as three house-elf elders popped into existence, overbalancing the magic in the niche.
The ghosts all evaporated, only their voices echoing from the stone walls as Remus and Severus came together, their arms suddenly filled with each other and not Rowena.
“Wizards shall come with us!” an elegant house-elf cried. Knobby fingers snapped and Remus and Severus were dressed in their modified clothes—which hadn’t been in evidence—but neither cared as their bodies finally succumbed to the power that had filled them and they fell into a deep sleep. The three house-elves looked at each other as they nodded and then there was no one on or near the Touchstone.

Remus and Severus awoke together in a hidden room of Hogwarts, the three elder house-elves ranged in a phalanx at the end of the bed. Severus had only a few emerald scales under the edge of his hair and just above his arse cleft. Remus’ additions were less noticeable: his scars were mere faint lines now and two tattoos behind his ears were more magical, fluttering and swaying just under his skin.
“Remus?” Severus’ reached out blindly and Remus’ warm hand met his. They pulled each other close and stared at each other, swirls of Earth Magick sparkling in their irises. “Your eyes…they are amber and gold now. So beautiful,” he sighed.
“Yours are black with gold sparkles. So wonderful.” Remus pulled Severus close and kissed him, hard. The house-elves looked on unperturbed. Remus mumbled against Severus’ lips, “We’ve got an audience, love.”
A protective bubble of magic suddenly appeared around Remus and Severus and the house-elves bowed. Severus sat up and concentrated on reining in his magic and making the protections invisible. “Wizards are filled with Old Magicks. Old Magicks will slowly leak away with time.” A house-elf with blue ear lobe spoke. He nodded as he felt Severus’ protective spells flowing over him. “Long have we waited for you. Happy is the day that Severus Snape and Remus Lupin unlocked the Old Magick.” Again all three bowed.
“Food and drink will come when you wish, merely ask to receive. Hogwarts will shelter you as the Old Magick fills the world once more.” Two house-elves stepped back and bowed low, smiling at the looks on Remus and Severus’ faces. “Minnie and Raspy are needed outside, but me—Dimple—I belong to Hogwarts. I will stay nearby.” He bowed his head and popped away.
A table loaded with food slowly coalesced from thin air as the three house-elves popped away. Remus smelled Welsh Rarebit and mango chutney; there was strong English tea and Portuguese sherry—Severus would be pleased. “Food first, then we can faint. What do you say, Severus?” Remus rolled off the bed and stood at the side, his hand out.
“I say food is a divine idea. And I’ll have a small glass of that sherry, if you don’t mind.” Severus reached across and let Remus pull him from the bed and into his arms. Again they kissed, moaning into each other’s mouths tiredly. “Perhaps some tea as well. Being a conduit for awe-inspiring power is wearing on one.”
They sat down, several dishes popping onto the table when Remus or Severus thought of them. Dinner was filled with soft words and softer looks as Remus and Severus ignored the elephant in the room. When they were finished, a single thought cleared the table leaving a pot of steaming tea and a plate of blueberry scones.
Remus put his elbows on the table and sighed heartily. “This is becoming more involved than just a puzzle of my genealogy. Severus, we’ve had sex with three of the four Founders, by all that’s holy!” Severus reached across the table and Remus put his hand in it, the clasp warm and consoling.
“You Gryffindors are magnets for intrigue and mystery. It is the bane of my existence to be in love with such a man.” Severus’ tone was dry even as his eyes seemed to twinkle like Dumbledore’s had. “This surge of magic will overwhelm the Ministry for days, days that we need to circumvent the Keepers.” Severus pulled on Remus’ hand and Lupin floated through the table to find himself on Severus’ lap. “It is my privilege to find a werewolf on my lap, filled with mystery and magic, and myself feeling oversexed and very, very randy…” He licked a strip up Remus’ throat to swirl around Remus’ right ear.
“Nuh…so what you want me to do is ignore things for right now and let you have your deliciously wicked way with me?” Remus’ eyebrows waggled as he turned to look into Severus’ eyes.
“Yes. For tonight, you are my lover, Remus Lupin, a werewolf of uncommon valor and doubtful taste in friends.” Remus pinched Severus, but not hard. “And very good taste in lovers.” Remus pulled Severus’ head close and peppered his face with soft kisses. “And I am yours…always.” Severus pushed up so that Remus could feel the bulge growing between his legs.
Remus stood up and began peeling the clothes from his body. Severus watched as smooth skin—that hadn’t been there before the ritual—was revealed. His mouth watered at the thought of mapping and tasting that skin and making Remus moan with each swipe of his tongue.
“Lover…I’m over here…when will you be joining me?” Remus had stripped, folded his clothes and put them aside, and was lounging on the bed in an enticing pose while Severus mused on his lover’s skin. Severus looked dazed and shook his head, a snap of his fingers Banishing his clothes to a chair.
“I will miss this ease of magic once the Earth Magick settles back into the world,” Severus sighed as he got up and stalked toward Remus. His cock bobbed ahead of his body, the blood rushing to stiffen it as he got closer. Seeing Remus’ eyes fixed on the prize, Severus stopped and began leisurely stroking himself, showing-off for Remus as he pushed his foreskin down and played with the dewy slit. Remus licked his lips and moaned.
“Bring that gorgeous cock over here so I can worship it, Severus,” Remus ordered. Severus stepped to the side of the bed and Remus began licking and sucking, his tongue playing with the foreskin and pressing on the thick, throbbing vein. Severus held himself stiffly, his hands hovering over Remus’ shoulders feeling the heat rising from the lycanthrope’s skin. “Mmm…tastes just like it should, Severus…salty…lick…hint of spice…suckleall you…deep throat...”
Severus groaned from the soles of his feet as Remus took his cock so deep inside any swallow made him want to come but not so quickly. He put his hands down onto Remus’ shoulders, bruising that golden skin. The grip seemed to spur Remus to greater heights and he pulled the orgasm from Severus’ balls with ease.
Humming around the velvet rod on his tongue, Remus milked Severus’ cock until he couldn’t stand. Mouth closed, Remus guided his sated lover to the bed and then shared Severus’ jism with him in a series of soft kisses. The taste was strong but Severus enthusiastically licked his emission from Remus’ mouth, tongue pushing into and around slightly-elongated canines without thought.
“I taste…happy…” Severus sighed as Remus laid him down against the pillows. Remus chuckled against Severus’ shoulder. “I should…” Severus waved his hand distractedly between Remus and himself. “You didn’t...did you?”
“With you throbbing and pulsing on my tongue, down my throat, how could I not fall over the edge with you?” Remus closed his eyes and the cover from beneath them appeared over them. “When we wake up, we’ll get back on our adventure. Now, sleep, Severus.”
Dimple eased into the room from the folded space all house-elves traveled within. He’d felt the wizards fall asleep and several wards flare to life around them. He smiled and tugged at one earlobe as he tidied the room around them. Old Magick chose well with these two, he thought as he went back to his other duties.
