I knew it was coming as soon as I read the part about messing about with memories - and then later Remus's comments about how difficult it might be to extricate himself from a relationship involving children. *sigh*
I respect how true you've stayed within the lines of canon - something I have a great deal of difficulty doing, because I need happy endings. More than that, I appreciate the insight you have delivered to canon - your story makes so much sense, enhances the possible interpretations of canon.
But, oh, how I wish it could be different. (But then if my wishes had power, it would be my own life I'd be looking at. *wry face*)
AS you said. this is not a time of sunshine and laughter. And I'd like to repeat how much respect I have for the way your story is woven through canon. You've told such a compelling, gritty story throughout - this LMoM is quite extraordinary, has accomplished something I haven't noticed in other LMoMs. And although it's all heart-wrenching, I look forward to the next.
