Challenge: LMOM 2009
Summary: There are very few things that get Remus angry. Sirius crosses a line and has to pay the price.
Notes: me and hpsauce are fic prompting each other every day. today's is "remus/marauder-of-choice - breathplay - a fight gets a bit out of hand, but remus finds himself enjoying it a surprising amount"
With the brilliant minds they all have, it only stands to reason there have to be a few rules. No making fun of parents, for example. In actuality, there is only one rule. Every Marauder can have a few off limits objects that can't be used for fodder for pranks. James has his cloak and his snitch, Sirius has his collection of muggle clothing, Peter has his photographs and candles. Remus' untouchable items are all his books. Granted, there are a lot, but none of them are any more acceptable for use then any other.
Remus opens his trunk, and murmurs the words needed. When the proper spell is spoken it expands not through width like most trunks, but with height. His trunk becomes a shelving system, and he's never been more grateful for a magical item before in his life. It's not enough to hold all his books, or even half, but an emergency owl sent to his parents can come back with whatever he's in desperate need of in as little as two days.
He wants to read Stranger in a Strange Land. With a first quick glance to where it should be shelved, then a more in depth read of each title, he's informed it's not there. He knows he's packed it, it's unquestionably his favourite Heinlein book. If it's not there then someone's borrowed it, and Remus has a good idea who. He loves his friends, but they're morons in literate conversation, and it's no doubt been borrowed for the vaguely described sex rather then it's appeal on discussing libertarian ideals.
Sirius is having a nap in preparation for his detention tonight. Remus knows it's going to take him hours, it's probably one of the longest detentions you could score. Filch might hate every student, but Pince is vindictive. He'd cast a scrambling spell on the books, so sentences and paragraphs were mixed between books. there was nothing odder then checking out Hogwarts a History, and reading in midst of 31 rooms Rowena was known to have sex in, 'the mucus of the hippogriff is powerful in that is has amazing sticky properties. One drop is enough to glue a troll to a wall, as witnessed'. Frankly, Remus thinks Sirius deserves every minute, not that he'd ever say that out loud.
James and Peter are in the common room, which makes this the perfect time for interrogation. He leaps onto Sirius' bed and pins down his shoulders. Sirius wakes up and starts thrashing, but for a teen with a younger brother he's actually quite rubbish at wrestling. He barely budges Remus with all his straining to get free. "What? What do you want?"
"Where's my Heinlein?" he demands.
"I don't have it!" Sirius shouts. Remus drives the heel of his palm into the sensitive part of Sirius arms, and while Sirius is nearly unstoppable when it comes to threat of detention, he's actually very susceptible to physical pain.
"Alright, alright! I'll tell you if you stop!" Remus eases up on the pressure. "I was practicing for my prank-"
"WITH MY BOOK?" he interrupts, furious.
"You're the only one who has books!"
"You could have done it to any of your textbooks, and it wouldn't have meant anything." What Remus means, without saying, is that to go and destroy something that's supposed to be off limits proves that Sirius thinks he's more important then the other Marauders, or at least Remus. Besides the anger then comes from his missing book, it also hurts to think that Sirius thinks that way. With all the emotion running through him, it takes all the compassion Remus has to not punch Sirius straight in the face.
"I'm sorry!" he stammers, but Remus isn't buying it. He picks Sirius up a foot and slams him back onto the bed.
"You're NEVER sorry!" he's a manipulative bastard, and Remus is about to explode. He takes a deep breath, one of the stupid techniques supposed to calm his nerves before the moon. More calmly he says "But that would have only scrambled the words. Where is it?"
"I didn't know how to fix it. I tried a dozen spells. I couldn't ask Pince to fix it, she would have known and the prank would have ruined. And then you were coming in and I panicked and banished it."
"You banished my book?" It takes all Remus has to not start beating the shit out of him. Instead he gets off the bed, and Sirius sits up and watches him. Remus rarely gets angry, but when he does it's a sight to see. He opens Sirius' trunk and pulls out the first t-shirt he sees. He thinks for just a moment before casting an incendio.
"What are you doing!" Sirius screams, voice rising in horror at the end of the sentence.
"Fuck you!" Remus replies.
Then, to his total shock, he's tackled. Sirius attempts to pin him to the floor and take his wand, he manages to wrench it out of Remus' hand. Remus doesn't care. He doesn't need magic, he's running on pure fury. He heaves his weight until Sirius is thrown off balance then flips them so he's on top, straddling Sirius. He pries both wands from Sirius' grasp and throws them across the room.
"It's just a book!" Sirius cries, then waving his arms wildly, he clocks Remus in the jaw. And that's when Remus snaps. His hands wrap around Sirius' neck and begin to close. He's seeing red, he's not going to kill Sirius but he wants him to hurt. He wants him to bruise.
"Remus, stop!" Sirius gargles, but Remus clamps tighter. If Sirius can still talk, still try to manipulate him and tell him things he loves aren't important, he's not being strangled tightly enough.
He wants to feel enraged. It's powerful, a rush of hormones that make him feel like he could do anything and it would be right, and justifiable. But as he's looking into Sirius' eyes, he sees fear there. It's something he's seen in the eyes of a hundred people that know about his status, and he hates that he could cause it in a friend. Remus starts to come down off his anger trip, though he hates that Sirius is still manipulating him through his fear, there are better ways to deal with this. And then Sirius' expression changes. Remus has always been one to read faces, and Sirius isn't good at hiding his emotions in the first place. The furrowed eyes mean he's nervous, the bitten lip means he's... horny?
There's no way he could be reading Sirius right. No one gets off on the idea of being strangled. But he can feel Sirius' erection against his arse where he's sitting on his hips. To test he loosens his grip and starts to move his hands away, Sirius follows them, straining to stay in Remus' grip.
He's sure that his own expression shows shock. But Sirius has never been one to read faces, or hesitate in doing what he likes. If he wants to get off, he's going to get off, regardless of if Remus wants to be a participant. And the idea that he's still being manipulated pisses him off enough that a new surge of power-hormones flow through him and his grip tightens. He's getting hard too, more from the feelings of power then from doing something sexual with Sirius. Remus wants to wank, but he can't let go of Sirius. He briefly considers wanking Sirius, but decides against it. Part of it's the same reason, he can't let go. The other part is more cruel, he doesn't want to be able to be blamed. If Sirius orgasms from this, there better not be any way that he can blame Remus for this.
When Sirius eyes start to dilate and Remus feels a wash of warmth through his trousers, he realises it's time to let go. Sirius starts coughing, and Remus stands up. Hovering over Sirius, he drinks in the sight. Sirius looks utterly debauched. His hair is mussed, he's got bright red lines covering his throat, and his grey trousers are stained black with wetness at the crotch.
Remus crouches beside Sirius and looks him in the face. He slaps him with little force and makes sure Sirius is looking back at him. "Don't fuck with my books" he informs him, then leaves the dorm.
He strides to the owlery to write a quick note asking his mother to buy a second copy of Stranger in a Strange Land. He smirks a bit as he considers what he has is a win-win situation. He can use this as ammunition at any point, and Sirius has to know it, so finally he's got a share of the power James and Sirius always have. He can easily get another copy, though he loves the book it was a small price to pay. And because he knows how Sirius' mind works, it's likely that soon in the future he'll find another book missing. Sirius won't be able to ask for him to do it, but he'll put himself in the same situation, and expect Remus to do the same thing. Remus sees no point in lying to himself, it's likely he'll do it. It was fun in a myriad of ways.
