Lily
Title: Lily
Rating: PG
Pairing: Wilson/Cuddy
Summary: Wilson and Cuddy have a baby.
Note: Written for 12_stories at LJ.
House sat amused in the corner of the delivery room, munching on a bag of chips and watching as Cuddy yelled at Wilson for getting her pregnant. House's head went back and forth like he was at a tennis match as Cuddy yelled, then Wilson, then the doctor who wanted Cuddy to push instead of fight.
“It was your idea, Cuddy!”
“Oh, yeah, right!” Cuddy screamed as she pushed.
“Can I say something?” House asked innocently (or not so) from over in the corner.
“NO!” Cuddy and Wilson yelled at the same time.
“Anyway,” House continued. "I'd like to stand up for my friend Wilson, and say that this was your idea, Cuddy. It's been implanted in your brain from birth to have spawn.”
“Thank you, House,” said Wilson.
“Oh, shut-up! You wanted a baby as much as I did, James!” Cuddy pushed once more and House scooted his chair closer to the bed and then back again as a baby girl was born. Wilson just stared in shock. House laughed at this. House stood and looked at the baby as they cleaned it and handed it to Cuddy.
“Look!” said House. "It's a miniature Wilson, but in female form. At least this one has the right to wear lavender shirts.”
Wilson glared and sat down next Cuddy. Cuddy handed the baby to Wilson, who had the biggest smile in the world. The baby moved closer to Wilson, who said, “I think she likes me.”
“She better. You're half her genetics.” Cuddy and Wilson both turned to find House crunching a chip on the other side of Cuddy.
“Could you, I don't know, leave?” said Cuddy.
“No. I'm godparent, remember?”
Wilson raised a brow. “Who said you were Lily's godfather?”
“I did.” House put a chip in his mouth and said, "Besides, you'll need someone to watch her if you two end up marooned on an island.”
“This isn't LOST, House.” Cuddy reached for Lily and held her close.
“Whatever. Can I hold her?”
“Sure,” Wilson blurted out before Cuddy could say anything. Once again, Cuddy handed her baby away and she persed her lips at this.
“Hey, Lily,” House said as he limped over to his corner chair. Cuddy looked at Wilson as if to say, "Get her back, now!” but Wilson just sat there dumbfounded as House handled Lily, very well in his eyes. He scanned the picture before him.
House cradled Lily in one arm and talked softly about the importance of the diagnostics department and how the British Invasion created a world phenomenon.
“Now, look, just because John Lennon's dead, doesn't mean you have to like him. Sure, he sang great, but personally I like Paul McCartney best.
“And another great British Invasion band is The Rolling Stones. Now the lead singer-”
“House!” Cuddy said from the bed.
“What, Mother?”
“Stop teaching my child about bad music and hand her back.”
“It's the British Invasion, Cuddy, not Fiona Apple.” He handed Lily back to Cuddy, who proceeded to talk about her favorite music choices instead.
House grabbed his chip bag off the bed and headed for the door. Wilson followed him.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“Home.”
“But don't you want to stay for a while longer?”
“No, but you better straighten your wife out on music choices and what she's teaching your child.”
Wilson watched as House walked down the hall and considered talking about The Stones for House to Lily.
