so gianna is a native who grew up in saratog springs! she works as a personal assistant and shares a house with 3-4 other girls because affording it any other way is just impossible. she tends to be the mother hen of the group, the worry wart, an extroverted introvert, she likes to get out and have fun but has also accepted her role as purse girl a lot of the time. she's sarcastic, thinks she's kind of hilarious sometimes, and not afraid ruffle feathers or speak up if the need arises. as far as the roommates, I feel like it's just kind of built up over time? one girl initially had the place thanks to her parents but wanted company and that's how it turned into this happy little neverending sleepover

	sure! gianna was super big into ice skating when she was younger so having a friend she could do normal things with and wasn't constantly competing against would be so nice! (Reply to this) (Parent)

yes!! so river already has some family-ish lines there. no one blood related, but she'd be blood related. their family is relgious/homophobic but she could obviously be against that. when river came out as gay at 9, his parents disowned him and he went to live with his aunt in upstate new york. she didn't have a ton of money but she loved him deeply and he had a good childhood. she had ms and he helped her out a lot. their mutual cousin - or she could be tiffany's sister - but tiffany (npc) married cal - aka

hospitable young. cal found out during the marriage he was bi and came out to her and she went full homophobic on him and cheated on him and ended their marriage. river would spend a lot of time in nyc having fun with tiffany/cal before this incident. obviously being queer himself, he sided with cal and he decided to move to saratoga springs to be with cal, abandoning tiffany and his toxic fam. cal is now his only real family now, other than your girl, of course.

i haven't decided what kind of religious the family is or why they justify their homophobia but it seems to be a very accepted thing in their side of the family. his last name is hendricks, which could be her name or not, depends on what you want to do.

river loves his fam hard and is very loyal to them when they aren't bigots so he would be close to your girl and be her ride or die if you wanted. he's only 23 so he'd be younger but because of the way he grew up, he is pretty mature for his age because he had to be. totally willing to brainstorm ideas! she could be not related to tiffany or her sister, depending on how in the thick of it you wanted to be!

i haven't said he had a "sister" but i don't think it'd be a big deal if we added that! the aunt passed when he was 19 from her ms. she had ms forever but it was in remission and then struggled the last 5 years of her life. river helped her a lot. he dressed her, bathed her, did her hair. perhaps he did that because your girl was off at college? that's important to his backstory so he has to keep that part. and the aunt wanted her to go so it wasn't like she was neglecting her mom. like the aunt let river go have fun with cal/tiffany in nyc because she knew he had a lot of responsibility back home.

the only issue is that they grew up away from saratoga springs so she couldn't really be childhood friends with gianna too. they were pretty poor growing up and saratoga springs is EXPENSIVE.

	i think we could go another route. i have her coming from a pretty heavy childhood, too, BUT i think i can work it where she would visit him at their aunts? is that mom's or dad's side? and still have her growing up in saratoga springs. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
