forgive my c&p, it's the easiest thing for me to do right now. astrid is the youngest of her family, born in arcadia, and most of her family is in academics, except her mother who was a pilot. around the age of nine, astrid developed horrible headaches and was discovered to be a neurogenic, joining the academy in 2632. she would become extremely emotional from being away from her family, which hindered her abilities but she finally gave in and discovered her greatest ability was emotion manipulation, which is why she truly honed and studied most while she was at the academy. a once introverted girl, she realized she only did that because of the emotions of others and found that she was rather extroverted and started to present that more in her personality. when she left the academy she became a pilot in the adf air force, flying planes like her mother, and saw combat in the war. she also would have several relationships while in the air force that ended in tragedy and astrid tried to use an ability she could never master, memory manipulation, and it went horribly wrong. she vowed to never use that again and continued to fly after the war before becoming the helmsman on the endeavor. she's been on terminus ever since, in gasworks, and can often be found playing dungeons & dragons, going to karaoke nights, and being the fashionista she loves to be on solargram.

thank you i'm bringing those wizard vibes with me. happy to!! he's a daniel jackson wide-eyed pacifist type with a chaotic evil sidekick robot named beemo who likes to kick shins and light things on fire. fletch is a big fat science nerd but he's a big language and culture fan as well so he's bound to want to talk shop with a comms officer whenever possible and nerd out like there's no tomorrow! and he likes dnd so wizard vibes still going strong lmao

a daniel jackson reference!! i'm filling in the blanks still but this comms officer might have come in from the civilian route rather than the adf, so it's going to be a brand new kind of life for her! slightly spock-ish if spock was a mom friend too. big calm "everything has its place" energy. but language/culture is her safe zone, she's an academic first and everything else last. i think this makes her a wizard, order of scribes??
