i watched miss americana last night and cried quite a few time which led me to where i am now picking up these credits! but it's such a good watch, i really hope you love it when you get around to seeing it. my girl is la based too so they have ALL the chances to hang out and i always love a good girlfriend line. tell me about camilla too! here's a quick verbose c/p of what i'm tossing around with her in my head so far:
this is delanie (lanie for short and what she prefers to be called), she was born and raised in north carolina by a conservative republican family. found out she was adopted when she was seven when she started questioning why she looked different than the rest of her family (think brunettes with brown eyes) and just last year sent a wave of shock through her family and ruffled feathers when she revealed herself to be a democrat and went against everything her family raised her to believe. the whole adoption thing gave her this complex where she felt she wasn't good enough to be 'kept' by her birth parents but was by her adopted parents so she took on this ideal of being/doing good enough to not be left by people, usually like parental figures or boyfriends. but i really want to play out her coming into her own and growing out of these bad traits the more she stands up for what she believes in and finds worth and value in her own opinions and the like. the media likes to make her out to be this maneater who plays the victim card by writing scathing songs which has led her to put pressure on herself to be the 'perfect' girl in relationships ultimately cracking under said pressure. and despite the mass hysteria of who she is, she likes to think she authentically presents herself to the people who know her best; she's kind and goofy and doesn't try to give anyone a hard time and just wants to love and be happy
