i could play any of these characters in different lines but just to have a starting point: - damien chazelle credits using someone like henry golding, exploring the self-directed racism evident in his work and obsession with artistic greatness ruining all his interpersonal relationships, against either a constance wu type who's known for speaking out against all manners of hollywood sins, his polar opposite best friend with justin hurwitz credits, or a struggling actress ex-girlfriend for sort of a last five years thing
- the former neville longbottom who's his family's main breadwinner so he never quit acting even though he doesn't think he's cut out for the celebrity gig and is super embarrassed by the way his team's trying to shape his career after his glow up, against either an a-lister he's being forced into a promance with despite their lack of a single thing in common with possibly an added side of her being a hot mess trying to rehabilitate her image by shacking up with a sweetheart golden boy, or someone else from the harry potter cast that he was relentlessly shipped with or relentlessly dragged for supposedly breaking up the actual otp while he was like excuse me we are literal children please stop inquiring into our sex lives
- sort of the opposite, someone who was the it boy on a teen soap like the oc or gossip girl and primarily known for being hot because he wasn't particularly talented, but had a ton of anxiety surrounding fame and pretty much quit hollywood once the show ended and has maybe ventured into indies or writing or even music since then if i can find the credits, i'd love this against the blake lively-esque costar who became the breakout star and is still a tabloid fixture and neither understands a single thing about the life choices they make but still want to be a part of the other's and fight all the time about how he never wants to go out or how she's always trying to post him in her stories
- someone loosely based on robert fairchild who's primarily a ballet dancer but is now trying to schmooze his way up the hollywood ladder and become the next gene kelly and is maybe in a promance with someone way more famous, possibly from the cats cast? this could mean rebel wilson, this could mean judi dench, or maybe his tiler peck for an angsty former childhood sweethearts thing, or sergei polunin credits for a contentious rivalry
- ryan coogler credits dealing with all the backlash from hipster fans who think he's selling out and chasing disney money instead of making real art when he's just trying to live like everybody else, i'd love his mbj-esque muse who sort of knows ryan's got a thing for him and gives him just enough hope to keep the leading roles coming and ryan falls for it even though he knows it's never really going to happen, and maybe there can be some added drama with the daniel kaluuya becoming his new leading man and michael realizing maybe all this jealousy isn't just about guaranteed stardom
- the actor who played edward cullen because he loved the books and begged his agent for the audition and still thinks it's the greatest love story of our time and has stuck mostly to mainstream comedies since the series ended, a little more zac efron than robert pattinson, against either his bella who's still his best friend and everyone expects them to get together but they fear it'll ruin the friendship or maybe the bella was the pretentious artist who thought she was too good for body glitter so she's the one person he holds a grudge against but they're doing another movie together
and for more general concepts i love opposites attract, best friends who secretly want more, enemies/rivals to slowburn allies and reluctant lovers, some sort of forbidden attraction like best friend's boyfriend or sibling's ex, artist/muse that isn't completely one-sided, and if none of these appeal i'd love to hear your ideas as well!
