fantastic! i was hoping to keep the rl anecdote about how natalie portman (on whom holly's early career is mostly based) and aronofsky first discussed the idea of a ballet film as early as 2000, though of course ~liverich ends up being nina. no idea why it takes them so many years to get around to actually making the movie, of course... but the thing with holly is that she was steadily losing interest in actually acting/becoming interested in producing during the 2000s and also not really into the idea of ~sacrificing for the sake of art~, so i imagined maybe it was just one of those projects that petered out until it got a new lease on life? also, she's friends with ~liverich who did not have the best experience on set with him, and i feel like she'd have just wrung her hands a lot. idk if you'd be interested in having this in the background by the time they're onto jackie and making pablo larrain happen! holly's kind of a flaky person sometimes but she's serious about producing, especially when there's a project that she's like I OWE IT TO HUMANITY TO MAKE SURE THE BEST VERSION OF THIS IS REALIZED. her approach isn't so much the megan ellison one where she supports all these established auteurs, instead she spends a lot more time working with those still trying to become more established.
... sorry this ended up being longer and more rambling than i thought. :x
