likewise! and they're actually pretty similar, el had an experience of failing early and failing fast (she applied to every drama program she could and was flat-out rejected by all of them) so she's been really grateful to even have a career after that because it means she did it herself and did it by force of will. she's not method but she does have her own sort of methodical approach to roles, in that she does a lot of academic research about what influenced the writing, what the world her character inhabits would be like, etc. and is very studious about it so that she can be as prepared as humanly possible to give 1000% when it's time for action. basically, "crimson peak" with the huge bios that guillermo wrote for each of the characters is her super bowl. that was a very weird time in her life (coming straight off of filming "gone girl" and also some personal shit she wouldn't have disclosed) and involved her spending a lot of time alone reading graveyard poetry and learning piano but the flipside of that is that she would've been immensely grateful to be sharing the experience with gus who knew her when and who she could really trust and know would be on point and in sync with her whenever needed.
also, not for nothing but also not to be a downer, something that's been nagging me since last fall when i was writing el previously is the spacey factor of their having done the hamlet production they did. :x just throwing it out there as potential update fodder/something to consider/something i imagine that if they're still friends they'd have discussed at some point in the last 8-10 months?
