Either one works! I don't have an absolute ton so far, but he's in his 30s and worked for the FBI for a while, ended up leaving because it conflicted too much with his personal philosophies and beliefs. he wound up getting to the point where he could no longer justify his work to himself, put in his notice, and settled into a fairly normal civilian life. he had acquired a degree in law prior to entering the bureau and ended up going into that as much as he can and living a much simpler life. he's pretty lowkey, comes off as a bummy fratbro because he has more junk food and beer in his fridge than anything else, his apartment is consistently a dirty mess, but he has his professional life together and sort of figures where that counts. he does a lot of art in his free time to mellow out and deal with an array of issues that he has, he can be a little temperamental/hot-headed and in his emotions, but he does do right by people and the right thing in most cases.
