of course! what's she like? this is his first job out of grad school and dealing with the #ham4ham crowd is not at all what he wants be doing, so he'll be a grumpy companion at best but maybe they knew each other from school before deciding to live together? or we could even say they didn't know each other at all before moving in together thanks to a mutual friend who hooked them up so it's been awkward all this time?
