Mary was becoming quite adept at using the communication system here. And she hadn't exactly been lying to either Francis or Bash. Lola was gone and she was alone. And that meant she was more determined than ever to heal any rift between the two brothers.

Sitting straight-backed in her chair, hands twisted slightly. They would figure this out. She'd make certain of it.

Francis was starting to sober up which may actually not be the best thing. He turned to face Sebastion. "You don't get to lecture me...are we clear? You betrayed me...you and I may still be brothers, but you chose not to act like it" he snarled, some of hurt showing through on his face. Tears streaming from his eyes now. He knew it wasn't manly to cry, but at the moment he just couldn't bring himself to care. Here he didn't have his crown or Mary to live for, so what was the point?

"I do get to lecture you when you insist on making me out that I have betrayed you when that isn't what happened. He pushed Francis against the wall and pinned him there. "Have you chosen to act like my brother lately, or a man that is in love with Mary? Mary and I never decided to leave together. Mary wanted to save your LIFE Francis. I happened to need to leave at the same time and could grant her safe passage out of the Castle. Would you rather she have left and be killed?" he asked. "I did not betray you. I protected Mary."

He released his brother. "But if you cannot get that through your head, that there is no hope for us."

She took a step forward as Bash pinned his brother to the wall. But stayed back enough to not be in the way. This was something they obviously needed to work out between them. As much as she was a part of this, as well, she didn't have the memories they did.

"If you think that I would knowingly hurt either of you..." Her eyes remained focused on Francis as she spoke softly, eyes misty. "Then you don't know me."

When Sebastian pushed him against the wall he pushed him off. Of course he wanted to take a swing at him at this point, but he refrained out of respect for the lady in the room. "Oh so you both abandoned me to save me? That's convenient" he said, the pain and sorrow still there on his face.

"That's it I am leaving. If something happens to me don't worry you still clearly have one another" he said sadly and made for the door.

Bash throw his hands up in the air. "Do you have sand in your ear, Francis?" he asked. "Fine, leave like the coward you are, brother. Leave the woman that you claim to love because your pride is wounded. Leave because you cannot see reason. Leave because you are selfish. Go ahead. Walk out the door, Francis and be done with it," he said, more angry than he had ever been.

Mary just stood there, frustrated and angry and in tears with the emotion of it all. She'd hoped that they could all move past this but it seemed Francis was entirely unwilling to work with either of them on this matter. And drawing it out wouldn't get them anywhere.

Head ducking, she moved from the door, one hand rising to hide her eyes. He hated them both, apparently.

"Coward really? You're going to blame me for this?" he asked. "You know I always use to brag about kind you were...how humble....apparently you had me fooled, Sebastian. I loved you...even when I became king I always thought you would be the one person at my side....standing by me. I wanted to always keep you at court, my confident, my adviser, but now that I know what you think of me..." he finally snarled, letting all of his feelings out.

"I blame you for instantly thinking the worst of me," he said. "For someone that says all of those things about me, you are first to cast the stone. You immediately sought to think the worst of me, and even after I explained what happened, you refuse to believe me. You are in no position to accuse me of thinking ill of you when you have chosen to do that from the beginning, leaving Mary alone in a strange place because you cannot see reason. You cannot stand there and play a victim after you made me out to be a scoundrel who took the woman who loves you from you. I will not let you attack me unjustifiably. I will not stand back and let you treat Mary poorly when she has done nothing wrong.

"I never said I didn't believe either of you....but you both seem to expect me to just forget the pain I felt. I am not my father...I am not made of stone" he said. "It's fair of either of you to expect me to get over that feeling just like that simply because you say it didn't happen for you...or it wasn't meant a certain way. While those facts are true my pain was still real...and asking me to just buck and move on and pretend everything is perfect isn't the solution here" he snapped. "Yes I took some time for myself to deal with everything, and I am sorry if that offended either of you but for once in my life I was taking what I needed instead of doing what is expected of me. Excuse me for being human."

"Yes, you did brother. You made that very clear. You accused me of betraying you moments after I walked in the door. How can you be so hurt over something that never happened? Shouldn't you feel relief that they aren't true? You took time to wallow in self pity, Francis, not to think. Do you honestly think that Mary would willingly leave with me when she has shown time and time again how much she loves you. The mere fact of her leaving the caste was an act of love for you. She gave up an alliance with France and her own happiness to save your life, and you can stand there and wallow and feel pity for yourself with a woman like Mary does so much to show you she loves you."

There wasn't much Mary could say to that. With every word it was clear how much Bash thought of her. How much he cared of her. And she could only look up at them both for a moment, a bit speechless for once in her life.

"If you need any time at all to consider this, Francis...then perhaps I was wrong in inviting you here today. Perhaps I should just give you the distance you so crave."

Bash watched his brother leave, not understanding him. He had Mary's heart and he would throw it all away over some notion he had built up in his head. It made no sense.

He turned back to Mary, eyes soft. "I am sorry, Mary. I know that that did not go as you wished. He is crazy not to see how lucky he is and foolish to think that you would leave with me when it is clear where your heart lies."

	She was very still as Francis left, unable to bring herself to watch him go. A shake of her head, tears finally overflowing. She might have been feeling slightly sorry for herself, but with Lola gone and Francis thinking the worst of her... "If he truly thinks I would hurt him thus..." Voice cut off, thick with tears. He hated to see her cry and he took a step forward, pulling a hankerchief from his pocket and holding it out to her. "I am so terribly sorry, Mary."

He longed to reach out and hug her, but he didn't think that he should. "Yes, for him to think that you could.... feel that way for me, it is absurd," he said, meaning what he said because he could see how much she cared for Francis.
