Again Lucy took a careless shot, not even bothering to direct her gaze away from Max this time. She hadn't met the landlord. The whole transaction had gone smoothly, so smoothly her parents had been surprised. Lucy had been convinced their money had done the talking for them, but now she wasn't so sure. She'd never seen the landlord. After her elevator adventure, she'd been sure someone would come and talk to her about what happened and that it had been fixed, but no. Sometime quietly in the night the elevator had been repaired.
"I haven't. Have you?"
She stilled when he asked her if she'd freak out. It was hard to say without knowing what he was going to tell her, but it did make the hair on the back of her neck stand up. This obviously had something to do with the apartment building, so she definitely wanted to know.
