Entry tags:dionysus, quetzalcoatl

I'm wicked and I'm lazy.
Who: Ben/Dionysus and Dominic/Quetzalcoatl.
What: Dominic meets Ben and is hastily made late for work.
Where: The lobby of Pax Letale.
When: Monday 22nd August, 7.43m.
Warnings: Ben's usual foul-mouth.

Ben was never a morning person. Even without the added bonus of hangovers and comedowns, he'd never been built for the AM, couldn't wrap his head around cheery morning folk and their ability to get anything done before lunchtime rolled around. He'd been out the night prior - unsurprisingly - though he'd stopped drinking earlier than he'd expected to, found himself distracted by dancing and one particular dancer in particular. As such, when he'd finally crawled his way back to his apartment block, he was already suffering under the weight of a fuzzy head and a heavy tongue and when he'd managed to get through the front doors of the building, he'd decided he needed just a few minutes rest after the ordeal of walking home, slumping down against the doors and closing his eyes.

Dominic had his morning activities planned to a relatively manageable amount. Nothing too extreme, but he did like to stick to at least the outline of a schedule. He could be flexible--he could, given an appropriate situation--and didn't mind a little wiggle room now and then. But he was a stickler for following at least the basics of routines he'd formed long ago. One of those basics, a very important one as a matter of fact, was the sensible notion of leaving for work with plenty of time to spare should traffic be horrendous. It was only common sense.

And so it was that the sight which presented itself upon his arrival into the lobby was none too pleasing. Dominic hadn't met most of his neighbors since taking up residence, and thus the limp form of a man blocking the front doors wasn't familiar to him in the slightest. Maybe Dominic had seen him in passing. But either way, he only presented himself as an obstacle.

Dominic checked his watch before nearing the doorway, thinking that maybe the man would hear him approaching and do the appropriate thing: move out of the way. He still had time to get to work, but he didn't want to chance being late.

Upon unfortunate closer inspection (and from the advantageous viewpoint of standing directly in front of the individual), it became all too clear to Dominic that the man seemed to be out cold. Or maybe not, if today was Dominic's lucky day. He cleared his throat in what he hoped was a casual manner, waiting to see if the body below him would react.

He stirred briefly at that cough, blinking open bleary eyes slowly and taking a good long moment to focus on the man standing in front of him. After a few seconds, two things became very apparent: the man looked quite annoyed, for reasons that weren't entirely within Ben's grasp right now and, if he were to make any sudden movements, there was a very real possibility he would throw up.

"Hey, uh..." A long pause as he remembered how his mouth worked. "Where the fuck am I?"

Unbelievable. The slumbering man stirred himself awake in a languid fashion, as if he had all the time in the world.

Well, he might have it. Dominic didn't. Or, at least, if he wasn't allowed to leave within the next fifteen minutes or so he wouldn't. And that would be particularly unacceptable. The thought of being even five minutes late to work left a bitter taste in Dominic's mouth.

He started to ask if the man would politely move when the other spoke up in just as slow of a fashion as he had awoken, sounding very confused. And lost, too, it seemed. The corners of Dominic's mouth crinkled downwards slightly at the cursing, but he was glad to assist with the information. The sooner the guy knew where he was at, the sooner he'd move.

"Pax Letale--in the lobby, actually, and you kind of crashed right in the doorway."

Very few people slept by doorways in a place like this, Dominic decided quickly. This man was either sick or drunk, maybe both, if his bloodshot eyes were anything to go by--and they were, in Dominic's opinion.

"Are you sick? You look a little..." Dominic asked, gesturing with one hand vaguely. It'd be crass to ask if the guy had drank too much, though that was probably close to the truth. There was the faint smell of alcohol on him, that and other things Dominic preferred not to try and identify.

"Oh Christ, yeah, thought I remembered getting home," he confirmed, words slurred and lazy as he shook his head slowly and then immediately regretted that as it seemed to make his brain bang against his skull. "I think I might vom if I move," he concluded, looking quite distraught about that fact. "Good night," he confirmed, at the suggestion he looked sick. What better reason was there to be in this sort of state?
