Dov snorted and nodded to Ben. "Yeah, I'll say." It felt like things had been going steadily downhill since his mother had been killed, with no real sign that things would start looking up any time soon. His optimism on this whole... issue was starting to slip. If Charlie even came out, she wasn't going to be very happy and she definitely wasn't going to give him another chance. He'd scrape up some money somehow, go back to New York, and pretend the whole thing never happened and he didn't have a half-sister at all.
"D'ya really think she's gonna come out? I mean uh, ya know her better than me, obviously." Dov wondered if they were just wasting their time. His sister didn't seem too... Friendly? Lenient? Forgiving? Any of those, really. He sucked his bottom lip into his mouth, waiting. What if he just made things worse?
"Uh... I don't really got the kind of friends ya can depend on. More like acquaintances, ya know? All the real uh, 'dependable friends' we had kinda ducked out on us. And I don't got any family 'cept my dad and... he ain't goin' anywhere for another six years or so."
